14 days training and 20k...You will tint like a pro when I am done with you!!!! Before you say that too expensive....No one in this country that can train you to tint in 2-4 days...it is all basic stuff and hopefully you got the common sense to learn the rest...your failure rate is 90% and you will make very expensive mistakes and you will make these mistakes for years...Not with me...also you will make money after I train you !!!!! And not stuck doing friends and family car for free until you learn....

Tint school.....where to begin.. . . I would start by looking for more than some guy who is going to teach you which side of the film is sticky and then give you the number to the customer service desk so you can order film at retail plus 30% prices..
A good "tint school" should involve several days of marketing and sales traning. Also your chosen school should invest time in you and  do some research into your area and demographic ..and offer a tailored plan of action for you. ..No need to try and open a auto tint shack if there are already 40 of them in a 5 mile radius. .. A good school should also inform you of ALL the brands available on the market and supply  you with the reps names and numbers for your area. A good school will help you formulate a sales strategy for gaining business ....and keeping it. They should help inform you what it takes to keep the business successful and how to scale for growth.. I could go on and on... But there are thousands of guys who can show you how to stick plastic on glass... That's the easy part.

I would say, depending on how deep he wants to get into it, to look toward the brand he is choosing and how they recommend handling training a newbie.

I'm a LLumar guy and went through their training program at their facility in Virginia. Automotive was a four day course. Went back a year later and took Architectural which was only a two day course. The thing I liked most was that you receive a certificate for completion of each course. Not that it necessarily means anything but to some customers it is comforting. Its kind of like walking into the car audio shop back in the day and the guys had Rockford Fosgate or Pioneer or Alpine certificates all over the walls. (My local shop did at least.)

Big down side to it, with LLumar at least, was the initial buy in. You have to be pretty committed to sticking with tinting. I had to order a good amount of film and become listed as a dealer to even be eligible to take the course, which also cost money. It is good and bad because it weeds out the fly by night guys that aren't serious about doing it and sticking with it to make some real money.

Does he live near you? When I was shopping around, before I had picked a brand, I was leaning toward SunTek purchased through a distributor in PA. They offered up a one-on-one training program that I believe was at their facility. I can see if I still have that info if you would like to pass it along. Although, I think it would be tough to pass up training with @flat rock stan from everything I have read. I don't think training with @Midtown Houston would be bad either from what I have seen from him. Price is a little steep but I'm sure you go very thoroughly over a wide range of things.

The good will only do sub wrk...When we are slam...we sub out our ppf and tint...They ask for what they are worth and I pay it since we price our service right. Hope your retail or wholesale price can afford them with still making a healthy profit or raise your price.

I got a heat box from @Midtown Houston and put 35% samples of ATC, CTX and IRX in it. The drop in felt heat between ATC and CTX is honestly incredible to me. The drop from CTX to IRX isn't nearly as drastic but you can still tell a difference. It has already swayed a few customers for me and has me fully convinced that when mine gets redone it will be getting IRX.

You're comparing apples to oranges with asbestos and window tint. However I just tinted a home for a removal and inspection company that has grown and done very well in that industry. To say the window tint industry is declining is completely asinine. No I haven't been doing this since the 80's but I've seen nothing but growth in my business. I am so thankful that I'm not a completely negative person and can actually see myself making a good career in this industry.

It look good to me...don’t pick this guy apart because you want it closer to the edge...we charge additional $25 for shave top each glass.  For all the tinter here...we suppose to support each other and not tear another tinter apart. I personally don’t see anything wrong with it.

Midtown Houston reacted to pbalentine in 2018 4Runner BG shrink & panel removal
I thought I would share how to make this one easier.

    Shrink/Wet Shrink:

Roll film out on BG, trim along bottom-edge, bump bottom down, mark sides, roll down, and trim top-edge. Then trim sides and round off corners. Dry shrink the bottom portion, pull film off, roll down glass and wet shrink the top portion.

Its important to anchor in the middle and to anchor where it creates more to shrink,  not less to avoid fingers. I bottom load with hatch up. Reverse roll works good too.

    Panel Removal:

This panel comes off fast. Pop the light covers and remove strap cover and remove 3 - 10mm bolts. Door panels are 3 bolts that are in same location on all doors.

For the OP ....highly recommend you show the tint shop this...Any quality shop will r&r that with no questions ask. Maybe a little too much soap or didn’t lock the top before rolling up...it happen but give them a chance to fix it.

    ALSO BE NICE....IT WILL WORK
