  1. If they are super super easy (with borders) sometimes I don't charge extra because they take minutes and the tint can be taken from scraps. I have only been adding $10, sometimes $20 to the job. I try not to mention it to the customer anymore because I feel like most customers because they think I'm crazy for counting it as a window and charging more.
  2. I use Global too and recommend it. It comes with a manufacturers limited lifetime warranty which means you can take it to any authorized dealer of the film
  3. Yup! When I used to work out of my garage or first opened the shop I was a hot mess always looking for stuff. You need to reduce your steps. I wasted so much time. Get a tool belt for starters. We also use a mobile tray or cart. Coming up with a process that is good for you takes time, trial and error. I'm not going to list every step I do but I always start off cleaning the exterior of the car and then deep cleaning the interior. That's just so I'm doing all those things in one swoop. Then develop your own process. Good luck
  4. Some may disagree or hate Yelp but Yelp brings in most of our new customers. We used to not pay for advertising on yelp but when we started paying for ads our phone would ring off the hook and our inboxes full. Google is a great source as well.
  5. This would have never happened if the guy just complied. I feel that he was baiting them and he definitely got the reaction he wanted. The cop that pulled the firearm did so prematurely IMO and over reacted too quickly.
  6. I use Global and never notice this happening. I assume you are using a white hard card? I switched a while back to the Platinum Smart Card and it works well for me. Then I use Mactac for windshields.
  7. I've done a Nova a few years back. I don't remember the year it was. but yeah no border. I just told the customer that I can't get an exact fit and they were ok with it and happy with the job,.
  8. Dang! I did one the other day and didn't even think about bottom loading it 😂😂😂😂
  9. We switched to Global and love it. Only downfall as it just doesn't have that name brand recognition like some other films. So the very few customers that do ask what film we carry, end up going somewhere else. But I love the film and the price is right
  10. Yup find a different shop! It's definitely worth it.
  11. I sliced about 5 finger tips between both hands while trying to remove a third brake light. Slide my hands across the edge and it cut my hands. I still had to do the job and a few more cars that day all bandaged up
  12. Low-angle haze from carbon or ceramic tint I would assume. If it is, that's something you would have to live with. Maybe someone owned it for a few days and got it tinted?
  13. Yes I do use the yellow Go Doctor on windshields too. But I use a yellow turbo on the sides of the windshield after
  14. I assume you mean your cleaning right before you do an install right? When I first started I was trained to use the Unger. I ditched it simply because it has metal and potential for scratches car parts. I also use the yellow turbo for the sides of large windows and for small windows. I have tested out a few others and have chosen the Yellow Go Doctor as my g to cleaning squeegee.
  15. Global and Express Window films have been great in my experience as well
  16. Social media? Do you have an ad budget? Probably the fastest way would be Groupon. But personally I'm not a fan of Groupon for this business
  17. Slip tape does work to an extent as far as protecting the tint but its much harder to correct a crease or blemish with it. Personally I have like 20 easy reach tools in my inventory and like others said, sand them down until they get a deep gouge and then toss em.
  18. I have 80 percent installed on my windshield. I think it will make a difference but I wouldn't be so worried about measuring temp in your car. Just the real world feeling and performance. To me its totally worth it. If you have the funds for the increased performance, by all means I say do it
  19. Here is my personal experience that I'd like to share. I installed "ceramic" tint on my vehicle as well. At first I thought "wow this stuff doesn't really work as good as I thought it would". I was still feeling a good amount of heat. Then one day my friend was picking me up and I jumped out of my car and into their car and I then I "felt" the difference. They had some regular dyed film. Don't base it all off that temperature gauge that you are using but with real world experience of how it "feels". My car does have the windshield done as well. I think its worth it even though its still allowing a lot of sunlight in. What ceramic does for me is really get rid of that burning, tingling, stinging, and uncomfortable feeling the sun gives when you are in your car. My second vehicle has regular film on the rear, ceramic on the front and nothing on the windshield. I feel the difference between both of my vehicles. eventually I will be installing ceramic on the rears and windshield.
  20. I been good bro! Just tinting my @ss off and living the dream lol!
  21. They are expensive at $8 for a 50 pack but they are reusable. They are really tough also. I would use them to clean seals, etc. by sticking an old squeegee like a contour, ez reach, etc and jam in in there and it usually wouldn't tear through the towel every easily. Not sure where else you can get them
  22. I always ask the customer. I did a car the other week with them and the customer said they are easy to remove and pulled them off themselves. Other customers said they were difficult or had DS Tape. In that case I work around them but hate them haha
  23. I believe they come in 2 other smaller sizes so you don't need to buy a whole gallon.
