drtint got a reaction from LeadfootCJ7 in Haze after Llumar IRX install
Is it the windshield or side windows?
window film is technically sunglasses for your vehicle or home. Looking through it with polarized sunglasses will give you a fuzzy vision feeling. Let it dry for a week and take off the glasses when you drive.
why would you wear sunglasses while in a vehicle with tinted windows?
hope this helps. 😎

drtint reacted to Bham in Absentee Tint Shop Owners?
Here's the real thing!! The thing that most people who think they can "sell" or think they have what it takes to run this type of business don't think about or consider.
This is not a product that sells itself. You can't take it home and do it yourself. That has been well proven, but....
Every tint shop out there is held up by the INSTALLER, not the front counter. The front counter and salesmen have little to do with the success of a good tint shop. Anybody can sell tint to someone, but if the installer can't get it on the vehicle properly, there will never be any sales. Everything will be refunded or discounted to the point the shop will go under without someone installing proper work. The person or people behind the wall doing the work are who will determine whether your shop is a success or not.
Truth 100%

drtint got a reaction from precisionauto in Graphtech FC8600-100 Cutting Problems
Highplains gave you the right advice. The cutting strip has a great deal to do with it.
if it is only cutting some areas of the pattern and not the other, it is because the surface under the cutting blade is not level (as a plotter without the Teflon or nylon strip that should be there). Last, your cut speed should be between 20-35 and down force 12 or 25 on graphtec and 120 grams for other machines.

drtint got a reaction from TintDude in Side Shields
Sorry Marcus. I worked on a 5 series BMW Monday here in Georgia and the customer had this material on the side doors and it literally turned the top of the door panels to a gummy residue.
I have a couple patents under my belt for other applications, but, a pending application gives you time to work on those bottoms and sides as to make it an application consumer’s can apply and feel comfortable knowing the product performs as intended with common sense knowledge.
not being facetious by any means, just would be a hard sell to the professional film installers in this forum.
remember back in the day road runner and wile coyote……back to the drawing board.

drtint got a reaction from smookee408@yahoo.com in Windshield tint gone wrong?
Shop needs to make it right.
brand new truck. That sucks.
They need to replace windshield and have one of their other installers reinstall and you can be sure they will pay attention next time.

I'm sorry but this is a forum for those in the industry, you came here originally for advice regarding a tint job for your car, then called us lazy, was asked to leave, now you're giving advice about running a shop?
I'm confused why you are here.

drtint got a reaction from TintDude in Advice on scratched window...
That is definitely now from an installer, even if it were Ray Charles.
cut scratches would have been around the outside edge of the the glass where it is cut.
keep in mind, any scratches on the interior area on the outside of glass is more pronounced when film is added to the inside.
hope this helps
PS, Chevy truck front doors are notorious for this.

drtint reacted to no ma'am in Streaks on glass
It’s either from hard water or the seal rubbing the glass. Real common on trucks with windows that get constant use, dirt in the seal or dust leaves a hazy appearance. Not the film or your install, it’s on the outside.

drtint got a reaction from KonSiva in Bad tint job?
Is that max pro film? Horrible material what ever it is. I believe if you want the installer to replace, shouldn’t be an issue. I believe this is a material issue due to clarity

drtint reacted to TINTZEUS in Avoid it happening
Common rookie problem. Always always double and triple check your work. With PPF edge's need to be gone over and sealed. The picture shown is absolutely installer error. Always check your edges and make sure they are sealed. And an installer does not need an air compressor to make this work.

drtint got a reaction from minty in Tips for film install on fresh paint
Never install over fresh paint. The finish has gasses that need to expel naturally or you could risk spots lifting at time of install or down the road if it ever has to be removed. If it is a fresh spray single pass with clear, two to four weeks will be fine. If it is three or more coats of spray and clear, give it a good 30 days.

I hate when people give chassis numbers.
Worst is when people say "I drive Cummins diesel, howmuch to tint it"

drtint got a reaction from quality tintz in Door panels marks
Constantly wipe panels when spraying, prior to install and after. Problem solved. What are you using for application spray? Corny tank or spray bottle? Either way you need to keep the water off those panels regardless

drtint got a reaction from Tint Slayer in Cuts on glass
I disagree with tools. That is definitely the shops issue. New car, 6,000 miles and an installer not paying attention to a dull ss blade or used a carbon blade. There are a number of vehicles out there now that are not to be cut on. I would go to shop, speak with owner and have home file an insurance claim and rectify the problem. If they say they didn’t do it, have someone else remove the film, lay it on the back glass (document e erything) and line it up and take it to court, he may change his tune at that time. Take the car to your insurance company and let their adjuster look at it and let him know what you had done. Any veteran on this forum knows exactly what happened and it needs to be resolved. Just plain negligence on the installers part
