Bottom loading works great for front roll-ups, but some rears you’ll want to top with the seal out or panel off, especially the ones where the side seals stick out on both sides.

This is mine, it was a little more than $160, but it was worth the money and labor.

Is this just the 6” Unger? What about on windshields, green turbo?

I thought I would share how to make this one easier.

    Shrink/Wet Shrink:

Roll film out on BG, trim along bottom-edge, bump bottom down, mark sides, roll down, and trim top-edge. Then trim sides and round off corners. Dry shrink the bottom portion, pull film off, roll down glass and wet shrink the top portion.

Its important to anchor in the middle and to anchor where it creates more to shrink,  not less to avoid fingers. I bottom load with hatch up. Reverse roll works good too.

    Panel Removal:

This panel comes off fast. Pop the light covers and remove strap cover and remove 3 - 10mm bolts. Door panels are 3 bolts that are in same location on all doors.

Just did a windshield today using Unger to squeegee windshield and green turbo to push the rest of the water towards the pillar, cleanest one yet.

Went back and forth with everything and the unger wins for me. It never tires your arm, cheapest to swap blade and just cleans better. 6” is too big on some roll ups and doesnt make good contact on really curvy rollups. I trimmed one down to 5” on these and use the 6” mostly for trucks and SUVs.

I’ve used the six inch unger for close to 40 years. Make the black blade so it hangs over the end of the channel about 3/8 inch so you don’t possibly scratch the top of some door panels. The Fusion Soft Pink Clean in a handee handle is great also if you don’t like the unger.

Just to show what I'm talking about, this is a '16 Sierra with just under 40k miles on it. It's been detailed and is considered "front line ready" for a dealership. At first glance it looks "clean" (I see a greasy, silicone armour all coated nightmare but that's a conversation for another day)

This is what the seals/channels look like...

After a quick wipe with a damp microfiber.

This makes a world of difference in keeping your install clean. When I first got started I was trained to flush the sides and pass a hard card/bondo card/tri-edge down the seals while flushing and call it good. I fought contamination on the sides for months until I started wiping the seals as my first step when pulling a vehicle in. Hopefully you or someone else will find this helpful.

It’s possible the board is dirty but I use distilled water. I keep my shop pretty clean though I feel like it’s something to do with the humidity causing squeegee to run right over trash.
