Eurotone reacted to VWaholic in YouTube PPF Tutorial Videos
Hey everyone, I've got roughly 52 PPF videos on YouTube that go over anything from, tools needed to install PPF, PPF install basics, tips, techniques, to installing on difficult vehicles.
Here is a link to my channel. I put out a new video every Sunday at the minimum.  Any feedback if always greatly appreciated as well.

If that one little dot is all there is to complain about, then I would say you got an excellent tint job.

Oh, and kudos to the shop for getting $475.00 for a tint job. It's nice to see shops and tinters finally getting paid what they are worth.

I'm going to say you're being excessively ocd. The quarter window having a single speck that small is no big deal, and yes I would call that a speck not a chunk. As far as the top gap is concerned, if there's going to be any gap I strive to make it as even as possible but a sixteenth isn't going to be a deal breaker in my opinion. Generally the only way you're going to get better than that is by bumping the pattern up a bit and shaving the excess, which I do in those instances where the pattern is off significantly but even then you can end up with some inconsistencies due to the bevels on the glass not being perfect.

I’ve installed plenty of film over ceramic coated vehicles with lasting results & no lifting. But, then again many variables here.

each to his own, if you are not comfortable to remove a badge than don`t , i do not refer to you , but in general.

each case with badges is different , you can strip the whole car if your time is payed and you have the knowledge to do it.
with decals , if are provided the replacement than why not put a new one , if not just leave the car in original state , some owners prefer to have all original, plus you have to take in account the surprise element once you take something apart.

i pre-cut bumpers and no need to cut the sensors, but i did cut out a few. i bulk hoods , so mostly i remove badges where possible. youtube university teach you all ,  i do not remove any decals , i do wrap on top of it , i do multiple passes with the squeegee , on some occasions   i may use alcohol or steam to force the bond tighter to the edge of the decals.
do your best , chase perfection if you have time , but keep in mind it will always be someone who will object , or not like your work.

Eurotone reacted to PPF Shanghai GFI in China made film?
Yes, the China films are used for very low priced work. I tested most of the films available locally, even the TPH films. TPH films are hard and there is basically no stretch at all. If you want something that lasts you 3 months or so then you could probably get away with this.

I believe you're seeing low angle haze, I've seen this come up on several occasions on here. Common with ceramic films. I've installed countless amounts of this film without complaints since 07  I'd say wherever you (got your tints did) did a good job and you should look through it not at it? Also ...... tints......

I think even Chinese wouldn't use those films. It's really just for some cheap shirt and rips you off

On back glass, I cut with my right hand holding the knife and i also hold 2 or 3 fingers of my left hand alongside the blade with the left most finger at the glass edge, as an edge guide, and i keep that distance from the edge continuous as i cut that side. Other edge of glass my hands are reversed. The top cut is the easiest to practice it. Just mentioning it as an option for blind cutting.

Eurotone reacted to highplains in Is this normal?
Yep that's normal, has to do with the light refracting between the glass and the scratch coat of the film. Polarized sunglasses will make it more noticeable. Angle of the sun, glass, and viewing angle will all have an effect as well.

This is the reason I wont tint the bg on the 3 anymore. I also wont tint the windshield on any of them.  I hear many thinking this company will fold soon.

The glass on these is defective by design.  Google it and you’ll see.

Newer BMW headlights are tough even if you've done them 100's times.

If it were me, I'd skip the pre-cut kits, they are too difficult on this type of headlight.  Use a larger piece of film that's wider and much longer then the light, tack it to the inner part of the headlight near the grill, then stretch it around to the back and use the excess to stick and secure it to the fender and bumper, squeegee it all out and let it settle up for a bit then trim it all out.  This should give you full coverage with just one piece.

Don´t do it...I went with a cheap Chinese off brand plotter my tint software company said was "great" and "worked well" and such...it didn't. It was slow and loud and inconsistent. I had to send it back and pay the shipping and lost a fair amount of money with that test.  If you do this for a living you cannot go wrong with a good investment in your future. There is no such thing as "the deal" when it comes to plotters.

These are samples of my hobby.
The custom shutters for the house were the simplest using PVC planks.
The dining table has interchangeable top; if we tire of the Barnwood look the trim can be removed and planks replaced with another type laminate flooring.
The deck swing bench has a recycled umbrella canvas for shade and the cup holders are recycled track-light fixture covers.😁
