  1. Thanks for your reply. The crazy thing is on Groupon (not best source for reviews) ALL TUNES in Decatur had excellent reviews and I believe when I checked Google they had positive ones there too. I thought the price was good because they were located in a somewhat shady part of town so their overhead (e.g., rent) must low. Probably should have worked harder and looked more closely for "fake" or self-posted reviews under account made up by ALL TUNES. Thanks again!
  2. The satire wasn't lost on me, lol, which is why I picked option 2 (as if it takes any thought to know the best option). Hope you're enjoying retirement. Hey, can you tell me how much more it generally costs to do a tint job when it's a replacement job instead of starting from a clear canvas (e.g., no tint to remove)? Many thanks.
  3. How much more is it to complete a side and rear tint install when existing tint needs to be REMOVED? When several people have mentioned roughly $300 for a decent tinting, I'm assuming that's on windows without tint. I spoke to this guy, Mr. Sidney S. Browne of All Tunes in Lithonia, GA, about trying to reach some sort of fair resolution to this and he started screaming at me, accusing me of cutting the windows (there is one cut on the back when I was removing the rear tint, not pictured and on inside of glass, not outside like others) and trim, etc. Conversation ended with "do what you need to do," which means I have no alternative but to file a lawsuit in small claims court. Done it couple times before, never lost a case, just a PITA. If he doesn't pay, then go back to court to get a sheriff to come to his store and just start taking stuff to sell at auction until the proceeds meet the judgment awarded. Part of the process is proving damages, which can mean getting an estimate or two on the cost to remove and replace the tint, the cost of the tint I gave him and he installed improperly (now garbage), and get estimates on the cost to replace the rubber trim around windows and fix external window scratches. As an aside, he claims they use a "template" for sizing tint so a razor is never near a window (well, then how did the scratches get there?). @DynamicATL are you in Atlanta area and could write up a quote to (1) remove tint on all side windows - I didn't have correct size tint for rear, thank goodness - and replace with 35% carbon tint (it's a 2008 Mazda 3, so wasn't putting ceramic on it). Any other quotes (on official looking paper) to do the same work so I can use in court to establish damages would be greatly appreciated!
  4. My thanks to everyone, especially @TintDudewho gave me a much needed (and literal) laugh out loud over this tragedy. Tossing out their tools and never tinting again... 🤣
  5. Hey, highplains: Many thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. Your recommendation makes perfect sense (worst they can say is "no" and only took a minute of my mine) and I'll give that a try. Frankly feeling a little stupid didn't think to do this myself 🤔 ... Sometimes when you're too close to the problem hard to see the most straightforward solution (or at least one that could easily resolve it). Best regards, John p.s. Only looked through the forum a little and found several positive comments about owner/manager of EFW, so odds seem good I can work something out!
  6. I'm not a professional tinter, but as a fellow consumer I would not be happy with this job though it's not bad enough - especially from normal viewing distance - for me to feel the whole window should be redone, IMHO. Hopefully, over time your eyes will not keep being drawn to the area so you can forget about it. Although it's unlikely to make you feel any better, take a look what a shop did to my car during a recent tint...
  7. Would would be a reasonable request from the shop that installed this tint on my car? I provided a 35% ceramic tint ($75 cost, so low end) and just needed the installation completed for a car I plan to sell in the near future. We agreed if bubbles, fading, etc. appeared a several weeks from now or any point down the road they wouldn't be responsible because it was tint I purchased and they couldn't warranty a product they didn't sell (completely understandable, no worries). It was cloudy outside so I didn't catch everything, but I saw enough tint that was put over adhesive that hadn't been completely removed (I took off 99% of the prior tint, which was disclosed so they knew it needed a little higher than average amount of clean/prep work; clearly they didn't do it). He agreed to redo three of the four side windows, though after looking more closely the next day all four need to be redone. So in addition to being out the $200 for the install (he insisted on payment upfront, I needed the work completed that day so I agreed), I'm out $75 for cost of tint, two of the windows had razor cuts near the center (what was a razor doing in the middle to begin with?), and the rubber trim around the windows cut in multiple places. After seeing the magnitude of this clusterf*ck tint job, I'm not letting them "redo" the job and give more opportunity to do additional damage to my vehicle. I haven't checked how hard/easy it is to fix these window razor scratches and am unsure of a quick fix for razor cuts to the trim. Thinking of just going to another shop with a strong rep, have them redo it, pay to have the damaged trim replaced, and take him to Court, but would rather avoid the hassle (though I've filed Complaints in Court before - won and collected - with unrelated car issues before). What would you do?
  8. I need 24" x 15 feet and 30" x 5 feet 35% ceramic Express film to tint my Toyota Prius (yes, I made the mistake of buying "Intersolar" ceramic tint at a very good price and now learning that was a mistake, most likely).Any ideas on where to go get this quantity instead of a 100' roll? Please contact me at k.alexander@email.com for any help, advice, etc you can offer. Many thanks!
