  1. I know this is a very old post, and I just had to tell everyone how these guys handled this shit so if anyone sees it they’ll know to steer clear.

Am I a customer who people hate because I want something that I’ve seen done on other people’s trucks? Would you hate me if I asked u to try ur best to get the tint really close to rubber and don’t leave a 1/8” gap in three places across the bottom? Am I the dick? Well lemme give u a word of advice, go find another building and learn how to cut vinyl and order some chloroplast era and make some double sided signs for some realtors, while ur at it , check the price on magnetic material and maybe you can make some of those for businesses to advertise, cause if u have a problem with getting something right, or as right as u possibly can while keeping ur cool and saying hey man, u may be asking a lot of me, I’d shake ur hand and leave with a smile, but if u cuss me because I want something u said u cud do until I drove back to get it, brought it to ur attention and u see it as well as I do but don’t know how to fix it anyway other than screaming and telling me I want too much, then u need to find another line of work.

Three years I owned, babied and drove that truck, I wanted a nice, pro tint job. What I got was two, count them actually the same trash in the drivers door, they claimed it was ripped off and changed, to make there point they put a scrap of tint in front seat, tightly stuck together, so I unrolled it and put it near my truck, it was clearly for a car. So one trash spot under tint driver door and 1/2-5/8 strip of light where the window rocks back mid way in channel rolling up. Back glass was the real thing to gaze on and vomit.

He took out molding, somehow turned it around and glued it to glass. Say for instance wen I carried it there I had a surface of glass 49”x 21” and the molding was around that, these numbers aren’t exact, remember the bubbles and trash under the edge of rubber? He cut rubber and brought it down to cover all that mess and added more rubber to it, basically I left with more frame, less picture. 48x20 and it was so obvious. They was so disgusted with my desire for them to do me right. I rolled up the tint they’d thrown inside my truck, threw it out beside building and dropped that sweet 302 down in 2nd and held her to the floor and eased up on powerbrake, I let off and stomped it, wen I did it lept out sideways and must of sounded satanic cause they ran to door to see me leave for the very last time.

I got home and almost cried, I ripped all tint off and had to re order back glass rubber where they superglued rubber to it to make frame bigger to cover up mistakes cause they refused to accept they did something that wasn’t perfect. So u know who u are and u got my money, and I hope u enjoyed ur meals the next few on me while I did without tint and was so disgusted the guy who’d been begging for that truck finally talked me into it, I paid $900 he gave me $2650. His first question when he got here was... umm, where’s that new tint. Lol. So now I’ve finally got my dream truck and the one I will be plenty happy with for a long time.

A 2000 Chevy ext cab third door Silverado loaded.. the tint on back window and two back door glasses is Chevy factory and plenty dark enough for me. I want 20% on two front doors and I want zero light gaps except that nice little .125 gap on the top and around the rounded edges and I will be so thrilled. I have bought a roll of 3m ceramics and paid considerably for it, I’m considering ordering a new front glass and having it covered with a good 3m as well.

Tel e my friends, 2000 Chevy Silverado 3rd door, driver and passenger windows, are they flat enough for me to lay tint on outside and cut with stainless blades and set inside and keep it from bubbles or creases if I am careful? Is this a glass that pros wud normally use heat on? Heat gun or hair dryer enough?? And someone please tell me I’m not asking for to much to not see light around bottom or sides, the top edge I expect.

Sorry it’s been so long, been busy and sold old blue, hoping he’s doing well.

  2. OK, fast forward a few weeks, a lot has been going on and tint hasn't been on my mind lately, I rarely go through the town where I had tint done but went today and walked in and said, I have a light gap on drivers door I'd like to have fixed, "the door shifted" OK, well, what's that mean, then I show them the trash, so u want us to redo it? Yes that'd be great, thanks, but it wasn't a nice experience. I then turn my attention to the back glass at the top where it isn't stuck all the way across at the top, to make a long story short, they made an appointment to do it again and he's gonna remove back window to get it "PERFECT" I said I don't expect that, just want it stuck to the glass, it basically all went downhill fast and the short answers and attitude I received, clearly told me that I was the asshole of the month to of had the nerve to even thought about stopping by to get it resolved. It is amazing how nice someone can be and then completely change right before your eyes, I've been through a divorce so I've seen it all. I couldn't even speak to the guy without him being just plain angry, like I spit on his dinner.. Hell with it, I was gonna ask if he could get the top part stuck down somehow but he got so pissed and said I'll just redo it and take up half my day, I said so be it and left.. I tried my best to be nice, didn't expect to redo whole back glass, it ruined his day, so he's now gonna remove the back glass and do it right, guess it'll leak now. Idk what to do, I showed him the back window and he laughed sarcastically and said we talked about it not being perfect, I said sure did bro but it's not stuck down to glass. Im scared to carry it back, Jesus, what'd people do in 1995? Not get their windows tinted? Lol. I'll try to post pics later..

  3. Pan pizzas are great, all that grease and brown crusty cheese on the edges.. Damn, and that's just the ones I've eat from the big chains, so I couldn't imagine what a real authentic pan would be like..

OK, so it's tinted, the passenger window and the two vent windows is pretty much textbook flawless, at least that's the opinion of a non pro tint installer, but it really does look great. The drivers side glass has 1/4inch light gap towards the front, it must of slipped and spun around on him and neither of us noticed it at the shop, it was 120 degrees and I have no clue how he survives in that closed garage because it wasn't cool in lobby but at least u could breathe. I didn't call back but I'm gonna stop by one day and let him fix it because there's a little trash under it as well. The back glass, well, I guess I'm just not gonna be able to be satisfied with how it has to look because I don't think it's humanly possible to get it exactly light free around that rubber, I don't know what else to do so I'm gonna be happy. Now I'm not complaining, you cannot see a light gap from the outside unless u really study it and the sun is coming through the windshield, but from the inside there's a few spots and he touched it up with a black sharpie marker, not really the technique I had hoped I'd have to resort to being OK with, but how many times can I be unhappy without looking like a complete dick? I will let the bubbles lay down and make sure everything is flat and then stop by one day and let him check out the door where I'm confident he will immediately agree should be replaced. This is without a doubt a hard skill to master, if he'd of spent two hours on one back window and didn't draw the line somewhere then the profit would of been nothing, so it is what it is and I am not gonna nit pick and worry over it anymore. Nothings perfect and it does make the truck look great like I'd hoped, but the radiant heat through the front window is pretty bad, so next time I'll get him to do the 80% on the front and fix side glass.

  4. I am sitting in the waiting room of tint plus in Anderson sc, I called the owner and stopped by, he called an hour later and here I sit, he's been tinting 20 something years and definitely gives off that professional attitude I was looking for. He has other guys working with him but is doing it personally. He uses solar guard, I'm going with Galaxie 12% I wasn't aware that percentage was even available, lifetime warranty and scratch resistant coating. I'm stoked!

  5. Unbelievable, that's exactly what I did and his name popped up first! Which makes me sick because 3m should know that they are backing this guy, he's also the only one listed in my area on the national tint association or whatever, they recommend him, or rather he signed up and his name pops up. I'm still scraping off glue, I can't get it done until it's all off or the other shop is gonna charge extra to scrape glue. Man this cat really stuck it to me, every other shop is booked up until Monday and I'll be cleaning up his mess this weekend and hoping this doesn't happen again. The worst thing is I don't have any more choices of shops to get 3m, I am considering calling or emailing them and letting them know who their new is behind, I can't believe he has made it this far without bad results, I guess his computer has cut out new vehicles and he done them decent, but there's no way he could of done too many, unless he's just stopped caring, I called a local shop and he said that there definitely won't be any light gaps in my tint, at least nothing like what he was saying was normal.. I'm gonna just get it done and forget this whole mess, I thought about yelp and Google reviews but I'm sure it won't take long and he will be known with this attitude.. The shop I'm talking to has Johnson sun something or the other, I bought some from him before this whole 3m tragedy and it looked good, so I guess it'll do, but it's not what I wanted and that pisses me off I have to settle, maybe I'll drive to Atlanta near my girlfriends house and have it done at one of the big shops with good reviews.

  6. Hey, I really want to stress something here, I'm truly not one of those asshole customers that want a free ride, or didn't like the way you looked at me wen I walked in the door. I would of loved nothing more than to of gotten this done and done right. I never expected perfect and never will, I would of gladly overlooked or dealt with a little bit of imperfection, hell I would've even helped the guy, but when he refused to lay it out on the window and at least try, I was done.

  7. I didn't leave a dime with him, it makes me so mad that most folks are too scared or embarrassed to make a scene and say anything about a sketchy job. He's basically hiding behind the 3m name and learning as he goes along. He actually trimmed the rubber around the vent window with a razor so you wouldn't see gaps from the outside, but the joker didn't even make sure to try and cram it down in his cut. It really sucks I couldn't of gotten the 3m tint, the amount of glue it left behind is amazing, looked like really good stuff.

  8. I have just bought myself an old truck identical to one I had back in 96. I bought that one new and had a buddy of mine do a tint job on it, which still looked great 10 years later when the ex wife totalled it! I missed the heck out of that truck, so I finally lucked up and got another one, a plane Jane 95 F150 xl with a 302, chrome wheels and straight body. It is getting damn hot here in upstate sc, so I start shopping for good window tint shops. The shop that's been around for years, and does everyone's vehicle is great, they do good quality work and never heard any complaints. I should of went there and been done with it but I guess I got on a research binge and for some reason I wanted to put 3m tint in my truck, it has lifetime warranty and I just always trusted the 3m name. I noticed a brand new shop opened with a sign saying 3m tint, so I make the call and everything seems great.. Now the next few paragraphs are probably gonna be pretty unbelievable, the customer always exaggerates and tries to make someone look bad if they get mad right? Well, I have never told the truth anymore than what I'm about to tell, I may be partly wrong and if so I'd like to hear a professional tint installer tell me that I did wrong, and I'll go back and apologize. I made an appointment with this guy who owns more than one business, I didn't have anyone to pick me up this day so I made sure to OK it with him and he said no problem. I went in on time and looked at the tint he offered, I specifically wanted the stuff that had a lifetime warranty and not the fx sl I think, the good stuff is crystalline I got two below that, one above the cheapest, which he said he didn't even offer the cheapest, so great I said and two other guys are there and one gets my keys and pulls truck around. They left door open as if to say, no boundaries, come on back, so I did and I read people good so if I'd of been unwelcome I'd of got the hint and went into lobby, with no chairs. The guy pulls in my truck and actually scares me he's gonna rip my mirror off, but he didn't and I stand back and just watch the most horrific scene I've ever seen begin unfolding. The owner is training two guys to tint and I honestly believe that this was the first vehicle they'd started on. The owner starts cutting out my tint on the plotter and I am thinking OK, well this guy's got twenty years experience so he's gonna handle it. He cuts it out and lays it on glass work surface, first thing happens is the new guy removes backing and puts his fingers on sticky side, I cringe but shut up, the owner sees him and says don't touch that anymore, umm, anymore? It's prolly a good idea to check it but no, he slaps it on the window and goes with it. I told myself OK, I'm sure it'll be OK. Then comes the vent windows, both installed and I see, honest to God, 1/4 inch light at bottom, I say hey, you can fix that right? No he said, the computer cut it and that's all we can do, he looked and said well, that's a lot, I'll recut them. While he's cutting them he slaps on back window, right lower corner and bottom, 1/8 inch light gap, top left, another 1/8 so he says well, over the years the rubber shrinks, nothing we can do, I can only do what computer cuts. I said well, I brought it to you so it'd be right, I actually tried it myself and had less light gap and was embarrassed so I ripped it off. I said can't u put it on back window and cut it and transfer it inside and you cut it instead of computer? He actually said, no, I don't do that anymore, I usually remove back window, I said OK, I'm done, his helper had installed vent windows by this time and was done, trash under them that you could actually see, I said just pull tint off and I'll leave, so then the attitude changes, they rip off tint and it's just a bad situation all the way around, I've been scraping glue off side windows for an hour and wasted half my day. So was I wrong? Should I of accepted that whatever the computer cut is right, or should this guy find another freaking business to open?
