  1. I was wondering what everyone uses for cold weather slip solution for flat glass? Today I had issues with fingers showing up 12+ hours later. When I revisited today, I diddn't find any water in the fingers so I don't think its me not getting enough water out. I've considered adding alcohol and reducing the slip concentration, but i'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this? I have no idea how much alcohol to add. Normally I don't heat flat glass, but i heated the bottom edge and still had the odd finger that wanted to give me a hard time.

Also worth noting the windows were in poor shape. rotten caulking, and the window seals were shrunk in quite a few spots.

Anything i can do in the future to give me a better chance to reduce fingers when its chilly? It's not even that cold really, -5c.

  2. Hello everyone. I'll be looking for a new vehicle in the new year and I was wondering what your opinions are as to what's the best for both cost and usability. Trucks seem to be out of the question because my 72" film handler is about 76" long. Since I'm in the Canadian prairies it does get cold here. I'm leaning toward a van as the film will warm up while I'm driving to a job.

My options as I see them are a Ford transit diesel with a high roof and extended wheelbase which is a very nice van, very professional. I can keep my ladders inside so they don't get covered in ice and snow.

Or a gmc savanah. The gm is a lot cheaper, but at the cost of a lot of creature comforts. I can get a new savanah for 30k with a gas v8 but it's a  plane Jane gas guzzler where as the transit is about 48k with a diesel and well equipped.

Currently I have a gmc envoy which is great but it's just a foot too short to hold my film handler without having it rest on the arm rest between the seats and my 72" rolls are really awkward to hold.

So I'm wondering what your setups are! If I could buy an inexpensive suv I could probably get by for another year without buying a new vehicle. I'd really like the transit as I can also use it for camping and dirt biking as well where the gmc will be a fuel pig in comparison. Thoughts?
