  1. One of my friends just posted this on Facebook about their experience getting their truck tinted at Yipes! in Barre, Vermont. What is his recourse for this? The tint job is terrible and horribly unprofessional. I could've done a better job in a dust storm with a rusty razorblade and a credit card.

Never bring your vehicle to Yipes! Of Central Vermont.

I brought my truck there to have the rear windows tinted, which they quoted me $295 for.

Because I thought I would be getting a professional job that I didn’t have time to do myself, I agreed though I felt it was way overpriced.

When I returned to pick up my truck, I inspected it first before going in to pay. What I found was a severe lack of quality control by management and what looks like they hire kindergarteners to do the work. I was beyond livid when I bought it to the attention of manager Mike Hartigan.

He proceeded to make excuses why it was done that way like I was some kind of dummy, further infuriating me. After I hopefully made him feel two inches tall, he said he would knock $100 off of the bill. At that point I was so angry, all I could hear was my heart pumping in my ears. I paid and I had to get out of there to cool off.

After cooling down, I called American Express and told them what had happened, something I have never had to do before. I told them I was satisfied enough with how the rear window turned out and I was willing to pay them what any of their competitors price was for a rear window, which is $100. AMEX said they would take care of it.

Yipes! Of Central Vermont then disputed it with AMEX saying, “We remedied the situation with the customer before he left and feel his dispute is unwarranted and unfair. We should be paid for the work completed on his truck. A $100 credit that was issued to him on 8/15 is more than fair.”

Furthermore, they lied to AMEX saying, “he did not leave a $40 tip as he claimed-we do not accept tips”

I never said such a thing and I would never tip on something I already felt was way overpriced.

They ripped me off and who knows how many others they have ripped off. More time and money has to be spent now to fix their major incompetence.

How is that unwarranted and unfair to them?
