I have a hassle with the smeary goopy 995 sealant used on Security Films. I was wondering if anyone has tried to premake some strips in molds or something. I think it would leave neater edges. I could smear some sealant on one side and slap it up there. I see the recommended size of a sealant bead to be .5" into the glass and .5 up the frame wall (But on so many windows there is no wall or 90 degree bend). So this leaves 1 inch of border and on a good day will it will look like crap. I need to know if premolding the pieces to a long strip say .25" by .5" is sufficent strength, and if the 995 material, wet will bond to the 955 material dry. See this 995 stuff is expensive and goes bad in 6 months sitting in the tube. So I figure, make up these molds for these premade strips ( I have a vacuum thermoformer that is 48" and would work perfect ) and then they could sit around forever as they are cured. But I don't know if new sealant acting as glue wound bind properly to the previously cured material. The reason they use 995 is that it is a "nuetral cure" which won't leach silicones and other mess down over the tint among other reasons like strength.
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts.

995 is the specified structural sealant for security films. since it goes bad so fast in the tube, I figure a way to save it is better than tossing it out. All of it looks bad IMO. but easier to install would be nice.
