If you have a FH you can probably get 4 good edges..at least 3 and only have to trim 1. You will need the big set of rollers as the film comes on 6" cores. A cutting table is nice to have as long as the guy who is looking at the smart end of the tape measure was good, and you have a good system in place for organization and getting film to the project.

**** Thanks Tom , I don't have a FH , I use a homemade slitter I made, but would never work for this. Heck I think even a FH would struggle with 14 mil. I think I'm going to pass on taking on this job, sounds too much like a nightmare.

I've never used anything thicker then 8 mil, and even with that, I pre-cut it on a table. I've heard anything thicker and you just can't do it on the window.... it's just too thick.

As for sealing it - depends what they are looking for. Which at that thickness, I would assume they want more then just to make the glass safe for showers and hot tubs. ie Anti-intrusion. In which case, yes, some type of attachment would be needed. I've never gotten into that aspect of it, so I can't offer any advice in that regard. Dow 995 seems to be what is used... and called for in specs.

I know that doesn't really help you much...  Hopefully someone else will have some more advice for you. :thumb2

**** Hi Roach,  I remember helping you on a couple of your jobs. I believe it was Steve if I recall ? Anyway thanks for the info . The 14 mil is for a school. So I'm sure it will need the dow 995. I have no idea why they want 14mil but I think I'm going to pass on this job. Too many reasons why this job can bite you in the ass. - lol

  3. I haven't posted on here in eons, howdy boys. Anybody remember me ?  Anyway , my question is about installing 14 or 15 mil security film.  Not sure which one , but either one sounds like a nightmare. I've been tinting for 20 yrs , mostly just on the side for other companies. Never installed this mudflap stuff, I'm used to 7/8 mil. - lol , Wow is it thick. Seems nearly impossible to try and trim any edges. Depending on which film co. you go with , I hear they precut the film? Then I know it needs caulked around the perimeter. Probably the 995 ?  What kinds of tools are needed? I really don't want anything to do with this job . Appreciate any help.   - Thanks , hope all is well my tinter dudes.
