  1. Hello!

i have the front end of my SUV wrapped with Llumar film. It has been a headache since day one, and I have been back to this installer several times to have various edges peeling up, things trimmed, etc. it got to the point where it was removed and reapplied with a Llumar rep actually helping with a couple of panels.

However, I’m still having some issues 3 weeks later, and I haven’t even washed my car yet. I had a peeling piece on the edge of the hood trimmed yesterday.

Anyway, is it better (from edges peeling) to have them wrapped? I was told by the installer that the inside of the hood isn’t painted as well as the rest of the car, so that’s why the film in there peels sometimes.

i think this will be my last PPF there! Any ideas on how to proceed from here?

    Thanks!

  2. Hey all!

So, I have a quick question for you.  My neighbor was looking at my clear bra earlier today, and stated that the installers use a pure 70% isopropyl alcohol.  I told him I was pretty sure they use a mixture of alcohol and water.

When I run into him again, I want to be able to explain to him why you guys don't use straight 70% isopropyl alcohol?  Can that be used at that strength to clean where a peeling edge is and then try to get it to stick?

Anyway, both him and I are kind of curious, and I said I'd ask the pros.

    Thanks all!

  3. Touchless....but once in a blue moon I’ll use the closed cell foam automatics.

I live in a condo, and don’t really have the time to wash it. My car is white and has no swirls in it.

i do have a warranty card and it doesn’t say don’t wash in an automatic. My installer said it’s fine too.. I’m going to contact Llumar and see what they say..

  4. Sorry, it’s hard to get s picture of it.

So, I have another question. I had Llumar applied to my vehicle. I was told NOT to wash the car for 2 weeks. However, we have had some salt on the streets and now my entire vehicle is covered in salt. Will this hurt anything or cause problems to the film while driving?

i just had all of my Llumar film reapplied under warranty. The last install had pieces peeling all over. Anyway, it was removed and reapplied.

This not washing is driving me nuts. How long do you all advise your customers to not wash for? I do usually use an automatic car wash too.

    Thanks!

Most everything you have described can be due to the installer...not necessarily the film.  A chance of a bad roll is always possible,  but not sure in the case.  Llumar PPF is the same as Suntek PPF which is one of the widest used films on the market.

In this case, what do I do? Should I find a different Llumar dealer to look at his work?im just frustrated with these issues.

  6. Hi all!

i am having a very difficult with Llumar PPF. My installer did the whole front end on my 17’ Mazda CX-5. On the first install, I had to take the vehicle back to him several times for pieces peeling. Today, he has his representative come look at the PPF because it would adhere to my paint properly.

Anyway, he ended up re-doing my front end hoping it was just a bad roll of film. It looks great now, but I’m kind of paranoid about this PPF. I have 2 other vehicles and not one issues (on for years).

is there anything I can do to help with the drying process and or adhering process? How long do I need to wait until I can wash the vehicle? I usually use an automatic car wash with the microfiber closed cell foam bristles.

Also, I have  some weird cuts on the hood. It looks ok on the top, but my fear is that the break between the film underneath will peel.

Any thoughts other than going to XPel?

look closest at the hood (end of it where the front fender meets it.)
