Hello @PlaceToTint, I hope that you are having a fantastic day.

I have not commented as of yet per your original request when you made the original post to hear from only actual users of the SolarFX films. As several have already stated, we do have non-disclosure agreements with our builders that forbid us to disclose who or where our products are manufactured. The best I can tell you is that we are using the best quality components that are available in every aspect of our films production. All of our FX modeled products, like CarbonFX, are of the highest quality and built to last a very long time. We are a 44 year old company and don't have any intentions of going away anytime soon. We have worked very hard at forging a name for SolarFX in the window film industry and feel that we have done a good job so far. We may not be the "oldest" film brand in the world but we certainly offer some of the best customer service in the industry. Which film company were you using before that went out of business recently? I don't know of any companies recently that are no longer in the film industry.

As @Ryker and @DynamicAppearance have stated, what's important is that you have a high quality product with a company that backs the product should there be an issue with any of the films. I wonder if any of your customers that want to know "where" the film is made ask the same question about the nails that are being used to construct their house, or where the fuel filter or oil filter that is used in their car are manufactured? Probably not, they generally don't even know what brand of filter is even being used in their car.

PlaceToTint, we would be honored to be your film brand of choice should you so choose to continue with our window films. If you choose to go with Suntek's films, I can assure you that they have high quality films also and are also a quality brand. If you have any questions that I may be able to answer feel free to give me a call. I am in the office M-F 8am-5pm Central time.

Thanks for the response. I did know that you guys have been in business  for 44 years...(not sure where i read that but i do remember reading it)

Can you tell me how long the FX lines have been on the market? As stated before I like the feel and look of the film, just curious as whether is has stood the test of time. I love the idea of the lifetime color stability, especially in a dyed film. I don't like metal films or hybrids either...so if i can get a color stable film that is dyed that would be great.....just dont want to get 5-6 years down the road and have to be changing out hundreds of cars....lol.

Ive seen people that use your film claim it is 100% made in the USA, thats another reason I ask...just wondering where they got their info from cause Ive never seen you guys claim it was made in the US.

oh, and sorry if I misinterpreted the company that went out of business, it wasn't the company, it was just a line of film that was discontinued. Johnson's Rage. just a dyed film that I had gotten use to.

I have never once been asked where the film is made, that is such a weird question from a consumer.

yea tell me about it....lol...its more so in the last few years, there have been a few competitors pop up and thats their selling point i guess...thats all i hear them talk about is american made products that they use...so i guess it sparked the customers to start asking where the film is made. In the first 10 years i may have had 2-3 people question where the film was made.

That is likely the best answer you will get!  Solar FX will more than likely have nondisclosure agreements with the companies that they do business with and will not be able to tell you!

As long as the film is good for YOU and the company stands behind it if something fails then whey worry about where it is made!

for me personally, It really doesn't matter to me where its made, I just need to be able to answer my customers when they ask. If I'm gonna switch all of my stock over to a company I would just like to know how long they been selling this film and where its made. thats pretty much it. everything else I will know by using it. Like I said I've tried their carbon FX and like it, I just know how many questions Ive gotten about where my film is made over the last 18 years. I can't see myself telling them "oh who knows, who cares"...lol.

  4. while we are at it, if anyone has other suggestions for a lifetime color stable film please post them up I'll be glad to try them out. Im not looking for metalized or hybrid films though. Dont like the feel of them. I'd prefer a carbon if possible or if someone has good feedback on deep dyed then I'm also open to that. But must hold its color.

I highly doubt you will find out "where" solar fx is made.  They either "rebox" or have film made for them.  Suntek is still a good film and many on here love solar fx.  I have used a bit of Suntek and have not used any solar fx.  I did go and see the warehouse and meet Shawn from Solar FX I even have a shirt, lol.

yea i hear ya....and honestly I'm not looking to got check out their manufacturing plant or anything...but you would be surprised at how many customer ask where my film is made...and i dont want to not have an answer for them. If they are saying that its made in the US then thats fine with me...I have just never seen them mention it anywhere unlike other manufacturers

I will let people that have routinely used both reply, but I wanted to point out that Suntek Carbon barely has any carbon in it.  So when comparing the two, I would not worry about the term "carbon", I would compare them as Color Stable films.

Yep thats pretty much what Im looking to compare long term for these films, is the color stability....I can care less if they claim carbon or not, if it isn't color stable then the carbon means nothing to me.

  7. what up guys. New to this forum.

Got a few questions....Ive researched many brands over the last 20 years or so. I had my standard brand discontinued in the last few months, so now I'm on the search for a new one. Ive tried a few and they seem ok. Ive come down to a couple that Im between.

I like the feel of these two brands. Suntek Carbon, and SolarFX Carbon.

Ive searched all over the web and there is tons of stuff on suntek but almost nothing on solarfx...Im just gonna assume because it is a newer company?

The oldest stuff i can find on solarfx is from 2014ish...hopefully not because they started in 2014?

    My questions for SolarFx is

1.) where is this film made? Ive read in some place that this is not a manufacturer, its just a rebox brand? and honestly that doesnt really play a major role on my decision as long as they are willing to tell me where the film is manufactured. I dont want to sell a product that i can't explain to my customers. and I also dont want my customer to know more about my products then I do of course. Customers are extremely smart these days, they do their homework...as they should.

I see some people saying made in the USA, but never have i seen the company state this...so thats my first question.

2.) How old is the film? With suntek I know its a lifetime color stable film...in which I see people saying all the time that you will only get about 5-6 years out of it.....with the film being old enough to tell if they will live up to the warranty or not makes things a little easier.

So I dont want to hit the same thing with SolarFX if the film is only a few years old. Basically they are saying its a lifetime warranty on a dyed film?(cause to my knowledge SolarFX carbon is not a carbon film at all)

and if the film has not been on the market for at least 10 years or so then Im not sure I want to take the chance to see if I will in fact have to use the shit out of the warranty in 5-6-7 years or so.

yes I've tried both films....and honestly I like them both....to me it seems like the SolarFX is much more scratch resistant over the suntek. SFX is also thicker. Love the color of Suntek, but dont know if i want to offer lifetime warranty on a film that many say will fade over time....I like the "having your back with a warranty" idea, but I dont want a warranty that i will certainly have to use every 5-6 years.

So I guess thats basically my two questions for the SolarFX....hopeing to hear from some people that are NOT a part of the company...haha... I want the good and the bad...not just the people that been using it for a few months now.
