I personally would not do since as many stated, customers might freak out seeing us do something that is completely normal and doesn't affect the vehicle.  Honestly don't think it is a real selling point.  You might have 1 or 2 people come in that are "that type of person" that wants their vehicle in site, but will it boost sales?  IMO, no.  Now I wouldn't might having a viewing window where customers can see the process happening.  This means the install area needs to be immaculate.

No I don't think it would boost sales if people knew they could be in the shop while you worked. If anything it's just gonna drive you nuts. But a window too see thru wouldn't be a bad idea. They would prob just get bored and do something else eventually anyway.

  2. There's a shop 30 mins north from me that is known for regularly letting customers watch as he tints their vehicle. A lot of people comment on social media about how cool they thought it was because they had never seen it done before.

Does anyone on here purposely do that? I've had people watch me tint before, I'm not fond of it, but it wasn't that bad. With as many ppl that mention it it almost seems like a selling point on his end. Kind of a way to "enhance" the experience they had and a way to win them over.

Anyone else do this? Idk how much I would like it. Even if it did win over a die hard customer.

  3. I've been tinting right at a year now on weekends and whenever I get the chance and am just now to the point that I feel confident I can take on most vehicles that come my way.... I'm finally to the point that I know I can sell my work confidently and stand behind it.

  4. Don't know what kind of setup you have to work with. But I've seen several portable car ports that can be purchased online. Maybe find one that would suit your needs best and maybe haul it on a small trailer that way you could quickly set it up on site. That way you don't have to completely tear it all apart maybe. I would think you could buy one, collapse it, then just put it right back up just get a good system going on for it.

  5. I would think that if they don't have garage or building you could do it in, or electricity for your heat gun then it would be way to much of a pain in the ass to try and go that route. Plus think of how many times your customer is going to tell you "Oh yeah I've got a garage with plenty of room, no problem!" and you show up and you can't even move around the car because of all the junk. or other issues too.

I use to work at a towing service where alot of these things came into playing getting a customers car and trust me, it is never what they say its going to be. Not trying to be discouraging just my opinion.

  6. Hi all, I am getting ready to make my first real investment into a good quality film and would like to hear some feedback. I have heard nothing but good things about Express Window Films and Solar Fx. I was pretty much sold on FlexFilm but have seen several negative reviews on it, can anyone convince me otherwise?

long story short, I would like to invest in a good carbon film if anyone has suggestions. Thanks!:)
