That also means that a pre cut piece should become easier as you don't need to cut it as exactly with the beed covering up any gap. Another idea: Is the sticking out part even and allows you to run the knife over it giving you a straight edge? If so, measure the distance, line up the factory edge away from the glass edge according to that distance and on the opposite side cut the film by running your knife along the sticking out part.
