just call around to motorcycle shops, car shops, etc. basically you point and push the button and it uses a laser to take the temperature of whatever surface its pointed at.

well thats how it was explained to me? It uses IR waves to sense the temp?

How big are the samples you guys put up? I usually just put up 8 x 10 pieces so they can see the color difference. The thermometer is a great idea, though. You don't point the thing at the film, right? The film would be hotter than clear glass. You guys use a big sample piece and measure the area in front of it? Don't make fun of me if I'm dumb.....

You can use small pieces, as long as its big enough to cast a shadow on the ground or wall. Then you let it sit for a while and point the thermometer at the spots on the wall. No film=hot film=cooler
