I tinted a two door wrangler today. I think it was a 2009. The hydraulic strut mounts, or whatever you call them, on the back glass are not within the black border like the new wranglers. I didn't want to cut around the mounts so I took them off and told the customer to bring it back in 2 weeks. Seems a bit long, but I had tinted one back in the summer and let the tint cure for 3 days in the 100 degree heat. It looked to be completely cured, but the tint still twisted when tightening the mounts. I was thinking of cutting some felt to cover the piece of the mount that hits the tint. Maybe even covering the tint with some shampoo where the mount will hit. Anyone successfully done the back glass this way without the tint twisting? Thanks.

If you watch the mounts on a jeep. As you shut the window the mounts twist just a bit, and they have alot of tention on them.

The best luck I have had with these windows is to remove the shocks.

Tint the window, and cut around the shock mounts to were no film will be under the mount. heat very well and reinstall the shock mounts.

To make sure you don't remove to much film. use the outter button to judge how much film to remove.

So, even if the tint is completely cured, it will still twist if under the mounts?

Can you leave just a pinch of tint under the outer edges of the mount? I don't want even a little day light coming through.

      TintX Puremax and Koolmax

      All Right cool. I've been practicing with an inexpensive tint I found on amazon. Its called Rockrose. I'm just about ready to make some cards to pass around to get clientele. I've been debating if I should start with Puremax cuz its a lot cheaper or Geoshield cuz of the great quality I've heard of. I'll probably go with Geoshield so I can make it easy on myself and make sure I do great quality work for my customers. Are you already doing doing jobs for customers? If so, did you stop using the Puremax and now only use Geoshield?

      Ghosting week require a smoother, more even and spread out shrink. Look at my old "ryk shrink" using 2 heart guns with an over/under setup. That would be my suggestion.

      Hey all, I am not a pro tinter but more or less just someone who likes to experiment / DIY. Wanted to ask if there was anyone here who has used the Geoshield "Geo" line for automotive purposes? I really like the color, but I get really bad ghosting for anything that requires decent shrinking. The film is specced as architectural, but has a PS adhesive so some use it in auto applications. I sent an email to see if that is the reason why it's for flat glass .. lol This is a sputtered TiN film and has a beautiful color imho. This reminds me of Huper Optik, and not quite sure but I think Johnson had a line called "InsulatIR" that I could never get my hands on to try. The film has a slightly purplish reflection (TiN I guess), when put on green auto glass, filters out and looks super neutral. ❤️ I've had it on my auto for a while but my rear window is a mess when the sun hits it (ghosting) and was curious if this is just not suitable for auto Any info would be appreciated. Skill issue, ie: shrink with lower heat? lol Thanks.

      chameleon window tint good quality

      If you don't mind trying to source some, there is a large Japanese manufacturer that makes a bunch of dichroic - looking films. It might be your style, but it would be hard to get your hands on some. https://www.braintec.co.jp/filmlab/ I believe some of the films do have decent heat-rejection, but because of the nature of the films, looking through them can be really funky. They are well-known in Japan and would likely be of decent quality. Also, very expensive. Depending on where you are, shipping would also be $$$.

      TintX Puremax and Koolmax

      I feel the difference in quality with geoshield. Not only is it easier to peel the liner off but shrinking feels better and I think the material feels slightly thicker(helps with not creasing) Only downside that the price noticeably different. For mainly everything Its atleast another 100 on top of for example stuff from tints Lexen. I haven’t tried solarfree either.
