  1. Hey guys, I was reading through lots of the posts and notice most of you are tinters....obviously. I have a 323Ci and have made the mistake of bringing it to a p1ss-poor tinting shop and now have problems with the tint not lieing down on the rear dot matrix. I have been back there and they said they cannot fix it. My questions are:

#1 Does anyone here work in a PROFESSIONAL tint shop near Baltimore or D.C

#2 Also, what is the best type of tint to ask for?

I really appreciate the help guys and I'd like to thank all of you for making cars look 100x better (with the exception of my damned dot matrix). Thanks again.

    Ryan :passout Short

Well thanks and :DD oops wrong little yellow dude. :DD that's better. Personally I have to recommend ATR Charcoal by LLumar. It's an awesome all around film. But if I remember correct you have the antenna in the rear window and it may cause slight loss in the radio reception. But dollar for dollar it's there to stay. Above that I would recommend a Formula One film. Also by LLumar. Damn I sound like MeTint. Somebody kick my a$$. :passout

I am going to make someone's job hard. Make sure you pick a reputable shop that will remove all door panels on that car properly. AND most important pull the seals with ease to prevent a very easily noticable seal warpage. If I was still up there, I would have to vote for myself. But I don't know any shops there to recommend. Check the member map and ask lots of questions. What film, how long tinting, done many B's and MB's, etc. I would recommend another XXXM film except their pnthr didn't last, so who knows if CS will. Although it looks great at first and does NOT interfere with antenna. I think Pinnacle is the F1 colorstable film.

    Good luck :evileye

  2. Well there's things like TG Maxima back glass panels I tried to remember to post from about 3 weeks ago on the last one I did. Just never remember. Us guys that have been doing this day in and out for years and years. We're generally so set in patterns, we have to slow down to see what we do. I share for the newer guys when I think about it

But I have learned some here too :hmmm

  3. I don't know about the Master. I know with the Graphtec they use their own drivers. I would recommend calling them. Then hounding them until they develop one. If they don't have one already :hmmm

  4. I got one for you guys since I'm thinking about it. When you slide the seals out of trucks and cars without pulling panels, 2004 Ford f-series, many late-model 250/350, and chevy trucks come to mind. When reinstalling these seals without pulling panels, spray a squirt of film-app solution or put a dab of vaseline in the groove that sit on the door frame and it will slide right in. Best of all, no smell, no troubles.

Just had to throw this in there while it was on my mind. Hope it helps :thumb

And before the smart-azz comments start rollin' in, :rollin I started keeping vaseline around for fuel injector and manifold jobs on the rubber o-rings so they don't roll during install. And of course for those slow days when a customer beats you up on price and you have to take one for the home team :thumb

  5. BMW's are a prime example. I generally take a hook tool and work my way back and forth from end to end pulling up slightly until its loose. One the real tight ones.

On other where the door panel comes off like the BMW, use a panel popper or similar and get under and push up in the same slow manner. comes out without the slighest bend in it if done carefully. And trust me, these cars are easy to see damaged seals in. :lol6

  6. use the local print shop...the $45 you spend in your community will pay a return plus you will get the print shops business if you do signs and banners.

Thanks S&S I will check them out

MM I am a big supporter of local shops. But when the savings is 70% or more on several hundred dollars, I have to look at other avenues. I typically try to barter work whenever I can, and have for printing several times in the past. Same quality, close pricing, always shop local :evilgrin

The local money you spend almost ALWAYS comes back to you in word of mouth, references, and just being seen.

  7. I don't use the scrapers. Just the raw single edge. More better easier for me. I would probably lose them too. BUT...

How about imprinting. Nice marketing tool. sell them for cost ($1.00) or give them to higher priced jobs. With your name on it.

As they are leaving, hand them one and say "Here, you're likely to need this later on. This is some cheap :evileye we just put on your car. Have a great day"

  8. I am working on getting my hands on a jet pump out of a commercial carpet cleaner. they are medium pressure and low volume. Not sure what the PSI was (maybe 40-50?), but I used to work on them alot and remembering correctly, they would be just right compared to the volume we use spraying glass. $50 is better then $200 IMHO

  9. I was curious who knew of a good business card software I could use to make my own cards. I typically have designed and brought my logos and had the printers set it. Now with the oncoming of full color printing so easy, I can make them myself and take to a printer friend of mine and have he reproduce just what I made as I made it.

Anyone got any suggestions? I saw a couple nice cards done up on a post a few days ago. By Eclipse Window Tint. What program was that? :jerkit

  10. I just noticed something. A great reason to use yellow page ads would be internet exposure wether you have a tint website or not. Either way your name, address, and number are right there on the Google page without even clicking it. I noticed one local company is using both local YP books with small ads. I dont think he's smart enough to realize one book also publishes to transworld and the other to verizon. either way he has bold title and number one spots in every way of searching window in our city. That's a top spot that will likely not be toppled until the new YP book comes out with my name in it. :thumb It pays to get listed with the companies that have huge traffic volumes. Especially if it's free.

Try searching your local town like "window tinting Chicago" or something and see which hosts pull top spots.

    Just another thought to share
