True Howard, also add the fact that some materials are extremely efficient at dissipating heat and have been used in the industrial industry for years to do just that. If you have ever used a drill bit for instance, you probably used one with a spectral selective ceramic material on it. Of course, when it comes to ceramic window films... talking about Space Shuttles and F1 cars is much more marketable.

I can't think of any other term to describe a film component that has so profoundly had an affect on this industry? 10+ years in and like Howard said... people still think it is the same thing as their coffee mug. Kind of reminds me of the old saying from customers "does that go on the inside?"

I'm traveling today so I don't have time to elaborate. Here are some reasources to help answer some of those questions:

To keep "preferred" pricing on Computer Cut you must buy $500 per quarter in SolarGard film. If you don't the price goes up, you are not cancelled or banned from using Computer Cut.
Wow, that is reasonable. $500 per quarter is not much film at all. Most shops even single operators should be able to do a couple of boxes in 3 months...

If you cant trust your vendors, then who can you trust?
What ever happened to a vendor building a long term relationship with a customer and provide them with a great products and great service?
Mike
There are still a few of us out there.

Now I also have a so called "verbal" agreement with my sales rep that he won't sell the CXP line to anyone else in my immediate area because I asked him to help me out on just that line mainly because 2 tint shops 12 miles away are the cut guys that we all hate dealing with there extremely cheap pricing on any car out there.....
by only offering the high end line such as the CXP they said they would do that for my because I don't offer any of the other products they make and that keeps the other dealers happy in there own minds.. go figure?? they want the same protection but only use the lower ends... weird but good for them and best of luck is what I hope for them.
Does that qualify as "restriction of trade" to the other ST dealers?
Tint Slime is a go!

Good points... Even though Formaldehyde can be naturally occuring, if you don't need it in slip solution then it is a good idea not to have it there. Don't be surprised if you see architectural customers inquiring about the contents of your films and solutions. They will frown upon Formaldehyde amongst may other nasty chemicals.
I remember the old 3M mounting solution used to make me sick after an install... not sure what was in it but I stopped using it real quick. Never had an issue with Film-On and I tried to avoid J&J if at all possible which turned out to be impossible actually.
I would be interested in testing Tint Slime. From a supplier standpoint, it does concern us what installers use for slip solution, especially on PS adhesive films. There are some slip agents we recommend and others we do not due to the fact that we are covering the warranty against adhesive failure.
