Solx , You must have run into someone unaware of GSA specs. If you use the right tools you can get the required 3/4 in. bead perfectly flat and symmetrical . All the gov'mt . jobs I have done ( which are highly scrutinized) were taped and tooled. I have seen the concave jobs you are talking about ... not right.
I'm surprised it was spec'd with 1/2" bead ??? Nice video.

This is the only pic I could find from a while ago, my computer crashed and I had this saved elsewhere. Hope it helps.

Unger makes a 4" scraper that works well on that type of situation. They used to have two size handles ,a green plastic handled one and longer aluminum handle one that I use mostly . The only windows I've broke in 27 yrs are small panes (dang I shoulnt have said that )
Maybe you'll get lucky and it will sweat off

I thought it was onlyhappening here, with me but was talking to a friend 2 days ago and he said the same thing , I was going in deep depression or is that recession cause it seemed like every where I looked jobs were being done and I wasnt doing them ... just did a job for one of my glass co's. on some clear glass they replaced and one of "those jobs" and whoever did it should have their squeeges confiscated the mngmt co. took over the bldg. last year so I showed the rep. what a hack job that was done( normally I wont rag on any companies work but things are looking different ) anyhow, I think I have a new client...
I think a lot has to do with timing and trying to stay in touch with the person/co.and that seems to be the hardest cause some hackmo is always out there hopeing "this will be the last 2.25 a sq.ft. job I'll have to do then I can raise my prices to 2.75
