  1. Hey guys,

i have a 2016 XE sedan booked in tomorrow, normally i pop or pull panels. Is there anything i need to be careful with?

also will a hybrid metalised film be alright on rear window for antenna? my films are normally good for am and fm radio on other cars.

anyone got links to pics of vids of door trim removal ?

i will take photos as i go of anything i need to pull apart and i will update this thread but id love to see what im up against before i go poking around expensive trims

    Post Update-

I popped the tops of trims back and masked up the felt for the doors, back window does not give a whole lot of space inside the car as window is on a big slope so i suggest using more slip!

Use a bone tool to pry plastic trim around door handle off, be careful around bottom middle clip it is tight just needs some wriggling as you pry

Undo torx head screw (forget what size)

    attachicon.gifjag xe4.jpg

pry back side of trim on back door and front of trim on front door to start popping the top

this doesn't need a lot of force thankfully but the back edge of the front door trims  be careful as they have something holding them in more than just a clip, don't force it you can get the seal out with it popped back 3/4 of an inch

    finished car Johnson Marathon 35%

remember to use a lot of slip with back window and clean the glass real well you don't want to do it twice.

No Disrespect but why you remove all that for? and waste all your time..and Profit,

just had a New Xe R sport in, Pop the tops back and out come the rubbers, there is 4 metal springy clips that hold rubbers in,  2 min job, Same as e46 / e90s

loads of room to remove rubber without taking door card off, just pull back tops, and remove, simple as that, and just as easy to Refit, aint NO AUDI :lol

Car start to finish all rears 1hr tops, Didn`t do front, No Drama car,

  2. Any one else ? issues with rear defroster lines, seem really poor on the last 2 e saloons we done, just removing dealer stickers, removing the real weak elements,

Never have i noticed 10 YEARS ++  so bad but these absolutely suck, we even steamed dealer stickers, and bang shards of element in the stickers,

Surely some one else not just me ?

done tones of R & R`s never lost a line, yet these seem to fall off soon as you look at them or remove anything,,,,

    Sticky on this Tintdude,,,, Ric

  3. Impossible rear vents, quarters uk spec, to much rubber top of glass,

Ideal situation Remove and tint, didnt have time, on mine

so Speaker wire to give some clearance  jammed to tops. with a bone tool,

Fronts and rear cake, rear drop 33" to be clear. for all you 30" roll lovers ( no go)

love to hear how to remove them quarters, as would have preffered a removal for piece of mind, car was mint, just prefer to know for next one,,,,

spent a age p**sing about them vents, to get up and under that rubber, speaker wire trick 1st time,

    Tip of the week ??

  4. 30-45 mins 3 door hatch,

Estate or 4x4 2 hrs appx. 3 if im having a bad day, calls etc,

saloon 1.5-2 hours, all rears past B pillar hand cut in my workshop with peel boards,

when i 1st started half a day a car no matter what,

as you gain experience and prep speed comes,

often when you think your good, look back in 2 years time and realise that back then your miles better and faster,

  5. dont know if u.s models different from Uk but you dont need to trim as black edge after dots not much but enough to save trimming rubber, I only know this as did a 2010 golf 5 door yesterday, The golf mk 5 I know its either remove or trim real tight,,, the only car I ever happened to catch like you said is a older seat Ibiza rear quarter & I noticed right away & got away with opaquing a coulple of mil, custy never saw it, Unlucky there MAS, feel for you, but like I said you sure you had to trim them rubbers ???
