I tinted a cla250 and after I was done with back glass the push start button to start the car would not work. A technician looked at it and said water leaked downward into the trunk where the push start computer is. From now on I think I will just use a spray bottle in the back glass. And use my 5 gal tank only on the sides. I didn't even spray that much water. Any ideas to avoid to much water.?

It has become very obvious that Mercedes has a batch of vehicles out there with defective defroster wires. Let me clarify that. The wires may be completely intact and working but the problem occurs when anyone touches the wires, such as cleaning the rear window, taping a temp tag to the glass or tinting process. I believe that there is some final step to cure the wires to the glass during manufacturing that was skipped or done wrong. The pic on the right below is a 2018 E class, we tinted the glass and then realizing that some of the wires were messed up, we pulled the film back off the window while wet (2 min after install). All the wires came of…

Any one else ? issues with rear defroster lines, seem really poor on the last 2 e saloons we done, just removing dealer stickers, removing the real weak elements, Never have i noticed 10 YEARS ++ so bad but these absolutely suck, we even steamed dealer stickers, and bang shards of element in the stickers, Surely some one else not just me ? done tones of R & R`s never lost a line, yet these seem to fall off soon as you look at them or remove anything,,,, Sticky on this Tintdude,,,, Ric

Tinted a GL350 Monday, went well, fairly easy job. You don`t have to pull the panels, only the tops and the weather strip pops out. Owner picked it up midday and was on her way. She calls me back about an hour later and says her door locks keep cycling lock/unlock. The vehicle was not doing this when it left, but it apparently is now. She took it in to the dealer and they diagnose it as water in the door lock module on the rear hatch. This doesn`t make sense to me as this rear glass is a lift gate that I put very little water on because its a small window and is fairly flat. Dealer did cover it under warranty as this custy knew the service writer, but she was told its a c…

Car is easy peasy but how are you guys getting the film into and squeegeed out on those little triangles behind the rear door? I'm guessing pulling interior panels? Any pics or steps to do this? Tia

Doors - These were pretty hard. I did NOT take off the panels or remove sweeps. The hard part was getting the film in the sides cleanly, so tape over the felt or do whatever you do to have "felt" control. BG - Standard and easy. I put the film under the third brake light at the top of the window with no issues. Windshield - Standard. As always be careful with water, just because of all the electronics. Overall Difficulty: 4/5 Because of doors

This vehicle is not for beginner....so do not try it. Take about 25-30 min to remove everything needed to tint this Wagon and another 25-30 min to put it back together.....There go a hour so charge accordingly. You will not be able to tint this vehicle without removing the sweep. This G Wagon is a Monster....If I keep working this hard, maybe I can own one. Follow us on instagram @autofilmspecialists and @midtownmotortrends to see detail of our work. 1. Remove blk screw on top of door pin 2. unscrew the door pin and push down on it to lock position 3. remove torque screw on door holder (what ever this thing is call....hand/arm rest) 4. pop panel ba…

About to pull in one of the new C300. Havent done it yet but the biggest differance that I see is, the third brake light is recessed in the deck and the quarter glass now have a border around them. I will try to post some pics later.

The panel just pop off so you can remove the 3rd brake light. It is remove the same way a BMW 3rd brake light. Pulled the tab out on each side with a small hook tool. Every windows on this vehicle will have to be shrink......Good luck on shrinking the front 2 windows. I did this vehicle with 3M Crystalline and it was time consuming.

Recently did a set of fronts on a new GLA 250. Gaskets are the same as previous models. I removed the speaker cover in the corner and then popped the panel back. Easy install, no need to shrink if you’re bottom loading.

Hi. Had a brand new E-class in yesterday with 8km on the odometer. I'll give some tips regarding the car. Rear panels; lift the top up a bit and pull back. The clips are very tight so you may use some elbowgrease to get it of. To be able to get the gasket out you have to pry back the plastic trim between door window and quarterwindow. To get the gasket out, pull panel and trim towards you, start lifting gasket from the rear of the door(quarterwindow), twist and jiggle a bit and the gasket should come out. These cars carry alot of electronics so be sure to cover the fusebox and the unit behind the fusebox with rags and/or releaseliner.

Hi Guys, Does anyone know how to trick the sensors in a 2013 Mercedes SLK so that I can have the rear quarter windows roll up with the top down? Thanks in advance.

Heads up on the new 2017 ECLASS mercedes, tinting back window may cause to have water drop in the rear deck falling into some kind of sensor causing the "keyless" entry to not function. Starting and locking/unlocking but will not work if sesnors are wet. Cheers

hey guys I am relatively new to the forum. I have been on for a while and just registered. I have been doing tint for a little while and keeping with the easier and more simple jobs, pick ups and SUV's for my detail clients. Well I have a client with a new GTS and wants me to tint it. I have serviced all his cars for years so the trust is there. One of my questions is the side door glass has a wicked curve on top and bottom, I know I will have to shrink the bottom of the window but can i and should I shrink the top? How about door panel removal since it has some serious weatherstrip on the inside bottom edge of the windows.... remove the door panel or try and get it wi…

Hi, Im new to these boards. Don't really know the protocol. I just had a quick question, that hopefully you guys could answer. I plan on wrapping my E-Class in a metallic midnight blue wrap. I would like to change the tint but don't know if the tint I want is even manufactured. Is it possible to get a tint that starts dark at the top of the window then gradually lightens towards the bottom with a 'smoky' gradient effect. So at the top the driver's head is barely visible, to where the drivers shoulder and arm could slightly be seen. Is it possible to get this done without film wrap? I've asked around here in Nairobi, Kenya and seem to get a lot of mixed answers, some sayin…

Could use some guidance on this. Don't see Mercedes in my part of the world. Do the panels need pulled or just the tops? Any issues with the defroster lines coming off during the strip? Thanks in advance.
