I think 115V was on the circuit? in the cieling, with a switched leg

since it has taps up to 230 and 277V

it could pull 1/2 as much current if wired to 230

and save on high-$$$ power bills

FWIW the wattage does not change with the voltage. It will cost you the same to run no matter what voltage. 277 volts is a tapping off of 440 service.

I use to work in a motor shop a million years ago.

No the wattage will not vary much, but the amperage will be cut in half. Less current makes for safer connections and a much safer circuit.

You will save money. Wattage does stay the same but the higher the voltage the lower the amperage. The amperage is your consumpion ( what you pay for ) :inot I may be tint challenged but I'm electrically exellent! :inot
