You only got to charge 3x your film cost, not your labor as well. :beer

Why would you not up your labor cost? What if you screw something up and have to eat extra cost?

film price should not be that much of an issue.....not for auto lines. The difference in price for one car is something like $12 if you go from Johnsons SP to Llumar ATR. I figure 12 feet of 40" film per 4 door car. If you are not able to make that much extra then you are just not doing something right or you are in the wrong market area.....

Now if you get into the "higher" end films....then yeah I see a complaint but you are just simply not competing with the dork low ball prices with those films....or you shouldn't be.

The difference per car for ceramic vs my crappy suntek I calculate at about $60 so I'm going to add that plus extra for mistakes for sure. I really could care less if I sell it or not, I am keeping plenty busy selling my sh***y film anyhow. Nobody around here wants light films anyway. I do however love that 70 geoshield, that is good stuff if you ask me. I am not allowed to buy Huper I ain't special enough.

I calculated it many time ago.

15 dealers weekly x 52 weeks in a year = 780 dealers yearly

This advertising is not first year. That's easy to check how many dealers in Your area?

15? 30? 45?

In our area I know one and only dealer for last 7 or more years, which long time sell also quite different than SunTek films...

Cost of material on a car is one thing, 200-500 sq ft on a house is quite another...

It's not about being "special", you obviously have a different business philosophy which doesn't fit with HO's. They aren't out to set everyone in town up as a dealer... especially dealers that don't understand their business plan. It's not all about film... No biggie, to each their own, don't take it personal go with your plan and be successful at it. :rollin All we are doing is giving input on an add in this thread, not tearing apart film. :lol6

You're right I am not smart enough for their business plan, either that or not big enough to buy enough. I haven't tried buying from them, I like Geoshield just fine it's the same thing or at least close enough to a customers point of view. I'm not taking anything personal, I am enjoying this thread I just felt like participating that's all.

      TintX Puremax and Koolmax

      All Right cool. I've been practicing with an inexpensive tint I found on amazon. Its called Rockrose. I'm just about ready to make some cards to pass around to get clientele. I've been debating if I should start with Puremax cuz its a lot cheaper or Geoshield cuz of the great quality I've heard of. I'll probably go with Geoshield so I can make it easy on myself and make sure I do great quality work for my customers. Are you already doing doing jobs for customers? If so, did you stop using the Puremax and now only use Geoshield?

      Ghosting week require a smoother, more even and spread out shrink. Look at my old "ryk shrink" using 2 heart guns with an over/under setup. That would be my suggestion.

      Heavy Ghosting - Geoshield "Geo" Line

      Hey all, I am not a pro tinter but more or less just someone who likes to experiment / DIY. Wanted to ask if there was anyone here who has used the Geoshield "Geo" line for automotive purposes? I really like the color, but I get really bad ghosting for anything that requires decent shrinking. The film is specced as architectural, but has a PS adhesive so some use it in auto applications. I sent an email to see if that is the reason why it's for flat glass .. lol This is a sputtered TiN film and has a beautiful color imho. This reminds me of Huper Optik, and not quite sure but I think Johnson had a line called "InsulatIR" that I could never get my hands on to try. The film has a slightly purplish reflection (TiN I guess), when put on green auto glass, filters out and looks super neutral. ❤️ I've had it on my auto for a while but my rear window is a mess when the sun hits it (ghosting) and was curious if this is just not suitable for auto Any info would be appreciated. Skill issue, ie: shrink with lower heat? lol Thanks.

      chameleon window tint good quality

      If you don't mind trying to source some, there is a large Japanese manufacturer that makes a bunch of dichroic - looking films. It might be your style, but it would be hard to get your hands on some. https://www.braintec.co.jp/filmlab/ I believe some of the films do have decent heat-rejection, but because of the nature of the films, looking through them can be really funky. They are well-known in Japan and would likely be of decent quality. Also, very expensive. Depending on where you are, shipping would also be $$$.

      TintX Puremax and Koolmax

      I feel the difference in quality with geoshield. Not only is it easier to peel the liner off but shrinking feels better and I think the material feels slightly thicker(helps with not creasing) Only downside that the price noticeably different. For mainly everything Its atleast another 100 on top of for example stuff from tints Lexen. I haven’t tried solarfree either.
