Hi All,

Has anyone got any advice on the new Transit windups. The rubbers seem to be one piece and SUPER  tight. Does anyone cut them?

Hi Darrenoid,

 

I would recommend posting these types of topics in the makes and models section under 'Ford' so you can get responses from across the globe, and not just Aussie land.

 

Me personally, I remove the rubber starting from the bottom front corner and pull it back to the top back corner. Then fold the rubber over the top of the door to get it out of the way.

 

I then tape up the front rubber that is still in the frame, just over the felt to prevent any felt coming from it.

 

You won't be able to put the window all the way up, but once you can slip the film down into the door frame, you won't need to. Then just slide the film forward into the front rubber until you go past the rubber 3-5mil.

GTS, Thanks for the run down mate, very helpfull. The job wasn't that hard to do but I took the first door trim off and made it hard for myself. The next one went quickly. Again, thanks for the feedback, it's cool to reach out and get advice. Have a good w'end.

      help arquitectural in Puerto Rico heat

      Hi, new to the forum but a previous lurker. Was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on tints for a business in Puerto Rico who's windows face north (humidity 80% temp 70-100). Main concern is heat reduction though i would like for it to not be super dark since it is a work area. Have not contacted installers yet since I wanted to have some knowledge about products and specs beforehand to make sure im getting what i need. Thank you! From what i've gathered i should look out for: dual reflective film and low absorptive/high solar reflection products used this topic among others for research: "should be a go-to such as: 3M's Night Vision15 or NV25, Vista Film's Dual Reflective18 or DR 28, LLumar's DR15 or DR25 (which closely matches 3M NV), or Madico's Optivision in and around the same number assignment. The numbers assigned to films represent the visible light transmission of the product." "The higher the reflectivity of a film product, the better when dealing with desert heat."

      It looks like the end of the roll was used which has adhesive marks from being attached to the plastic core. You can't use the very end of the film roll.

      South facing windows DR film

      Install went great. I went with NV-25, I am very happy. The room has been darkened significantly, from bright and hot to much more pleasant and enjoyable. Watching TV during the day is no longer blinding, when it is cloudy it is definitely a bit gloomy, I am glad I did not go with NV-15. I plan on getting more windows done in the future to help cut down on heat energy. Thanks for everyone's input!
