Heat Shrinking

For all of you that heat shrink I have a question for yah. I have been heat shrinking for about 3 years (I think) and I think I have it down very well. On occasion however, I will "overshrink" the window. It seems it shrinks too much and sometimes I have to re-start after I attempt an install. Most of the time I can get it but it's like installing a 1 piece camaro back glass with 5%. Just wondering if I am the only one who has this problem every so often.

Sounds like you're using the powder method.

I had that problem as well when I used to "try" to powder shrink. I have a friend who still shrinks using the powder long after I told him about dryer sheets and fabric sizing spray.

If you are using the powder method what you can do is go out of your way to under shrink the tint then follow up with a wet-check to avoid any overshrinkage. That's what I resorted to doing during my short stint as a powder shrinker. Seemed to work well for me then.

Good luck.
