Forget the plotter for a while and learn to hand cut tint, trust me you will be glad you did! The plotter is faster most of the time but the quality just isn't the same IMO
If you must have a plotter, i got a used 40" plotter for $1000 and and pay $100 a month for the software if that helps. Buying new you could spend 4k to get set up, then software seems to be anywhere from $100 to $150 a month from what i've seen.

Just wanted to revive this old thread, been cruising along the last few months with nothing that truly gave me a fit
In walks a custy today with an mk6 gti hatch. All went well until the hatch, imagine how embarassed i was as my custy watched me make 4 thats right 4 shrink attemps on this window. Had to send the custy out with a few creases on the sides Just wasnt my day i guess, have done a few of the mk5s and never really had a problem. But this thing killed me. I am going to try again in a week or so. Have to make it right... i wouldnt consider myself a rookie by any means. Lost this battle but i will win the war...

I actually use Square Appointments and it has been working great, for the most part I do everything with Square but the appointment reminder WORKS! I have only had 2 no shows in 3 months which is amazing. One think I like about it is that i can customize the texts that get sent. I have a terrible problem with GPS not properly locating my shop so i put detailed instructions into the confirmation text. Looked at yellow schedule, it's nice, just didn't click with me,,,'

Did one of these the other evening, not too bad. I do hand cut everything so this one takes a while, 9 windows, 10 if you include splitting the strip. I did figure a way to cut, shrink and install the rear without removing anything. I did a quick oversize on the outside and laid it on my peeler. Then took a liner i had in the can from the back window of a car i did the day before. Put the liner on the inside of the hatch and cut out a pattern. Then transferred that to the outside of my actual film i had laying on the peeler. Cut the upper contour exactly, then cut the sides and bottom slightly over sized. Dry shrunk and installed, had to do minor trimming on the inside but it worked pretty good. The less i have to remove the better lol...

Been using NR films from solargard, looks good, price is ok, but my bsf rep says it will change color fast and isn't good film. He's suggesting the much more expensive TruGrey film. Am I just getting the spend more runaround from this guy? I also got some elcheapo film from solartech, the only difference I noticed after using it some was the price....
