Yesterday I had a customer bring his truck in to put tint on a new sliding back glass that he had to have replaced at the local GM car dealer because it was leaking water. The plastic cracked on the origional one which allowed water to come inside the truck. I had two used and recently purchased 21 and 22 GM and one Chevrolet pickups in here that I decided to look at closely and sure enough, they both showed signs of water leaking from the tops of the rear sliding back glasses. I even squirted water from the outside and discovered that the water easily ran down on the inside of the trucks. Just a heads up to maybe inform your customers who are unaware that their truck win…

For those who pull seals, these are very similar to the new silverado/sierra door panels that should be removed and take all of 3 minutes or less to pull the panel and accompanying seal. Tools 7mm or 9/32 docket, driver, T-27 and pick. 1) Remove the cover in the pull. 2) remove 2 T-27 torn screws at bottom of panel 3) remove 2 7mm bolts in door pull 4) grasp upper rear corner of door panel and gently pull to reveal seal 5) pull seal. Installation is reverse of install

Just a heads up for those who use plotters to cut their film the 2020 Sierra and Silverado HDs (2500, 3500) use different glass than the 1500 models. It's about an inch taller, see attached pic. Otherwise they're just like the half tons for panel removal and installation see this thread here:

The panel no longer easily pops backs to get the seal out. I pulled the panel on one side and was able to pop the panel on the other. If you only pop it, be cafefull the black clips at the top edge dont fall in the door. Those top clips are so damn tight. Ive never removed a panel that was this tight at the top ever. Heres what you remove: 1 - 7mm behind handle and 1 - 7mm behind interior panel (below the switch cover).

Pretty much everything is changed on these new ones but overall they're still pretty easy. If you like to pull sweeps and bottom load you do have to remove the whole panel, can't just pop the top anymore. There are five(5) seven millimeter screws that have to be removed to pull the panel. One behind the handle, two behind the pull, and two at the bottom. The cover for the pull has to be removed starting from the front as there is a large tab that fits into the panel at the rear. See the attached pictures. The bevel on the glass is different than most and I had to adjust the angle of my razor blade several times to get a good shaved edge on it, was unexpectedly a pain in t…

i have a customer who has a 83 camaro. Any tips? I've read to not shrink at all and then to wet shrink it. When wet shrinking do you lock down the middle and heat and stretch the sides? Or do you lock down the sides of the window and make a pocket in the middle of the glass? Never down a window like this. I was hoping j never had to but I don't want to waste a bunch of tint. Or make the customer mad. Thanks.

Any directions here for bottom sweep removal? I have done a couple 14+ Silverado/Sierra trucks but not an 07-13 yet. Watched a video on YouTube that looks like I may be able to pull the one 10mm behind the door grab and pull the top back enough to steal the sweep. Is this the case? What about the back doors on a Crew Cab model? Hoping those are the same. I like pulling seals but don't like taking full panels off if I don't have to. This customer wants to do the windshield too. Looks like they may be a pain to shrink. What about computers or stuff on the firewall? Am I ok with some water down there, within reason of course...

Have one of these rolling in tomorrow. I have been bottom loading nearly everything lately, is this an option on this car? Customer is also asking about the windshield, anything to watch out for there? I have done a couple (Trucks and SUVs) but I like to ask and didn't see a post already. I know the back glass is tight but it sounds like the 16+ models are worse. Will my Automotive Bulldozer be enough for this back window? Thanks for the help as usual everyone. This forum has saved my butt on many things already!

Any one done one of these yet? Haven't seen the car but it's supposed to roll in around 10am tomorrow. Wondering how to get the bottom sweeps out for ease of bottom loading. Nothing on Youtube at this point... Thanks for any and all help guys!

this car was a little bit harder than it looked. the rear seat on the one i did didnt fold down and headrest and seat were all one piece. i did not remove the seat OR rear deck and got it on first try. be careful for the carpeted rear glass is close to the clear portion of glass..... defroster solder is very close on sides and an extra defroster plug near the top matix lines. pull side and bottom seals on side glasses easily.

I pulled the panels on on the front, one 7mm behind the handle, and two 8mm just below the handle. For the rear I removed the 7mm behind the handle, but I pulled the top back and grabbed the seal out. To put the rear back on I flexed the top of the panel. The rear should really be removed to get the sweep, but I could not figure out where to get to the screws holding the panel on. The rest of the car was simple.

Got a call on one of these but haven't had a chance to see it in person yet. Actually got a call on a Chevrolet Trax and a Buick Encore, just fronts for the Encore though. Quick Google Image search looks like one bolt behind the handle (guessing 7mm, 10mm or T25 Torx) and hopefully the top pulls back and sweeps pull out. Any chance of a no-shrink on these windows as well? Always a big plus. Please tell me yes to both... Hows about the hatch window? (Side question, is this the kind of information that I can find in the subscribers area instead of asking all the time? I've been thinking about it but just didn't know what all w…

So from the reading here it looks like the doors will be simple enough. Sounds like one Torx behind the door handle, pop the top of the panel and lift out the seals, right? No shrink on the doors from the sounds of it. My concern is the back window and how much shrink it will need. Truck has a service bed on it and I can get to most of the window but not easily out toward the edges. Don't want to get into a situation where I can't get it tinted. I should note, its a one piece glass and I do have a plotter and software to cut patterns so getting the shape cut isn't an issue. Hoping this is a no shrink on any of the windows truck. …

I cannot for the life of me get this to shrink right. Should I wet shrink or dry shrink? I even tried 3 piece but the curves just end up creasing!!! UHHHGGG! These types of bg almost make me hate tinting.
