  1. Sup Dudes! Long time.

My wife got a new "mom" car as we're expecting a baby in August. So a good friend and I did a paint correction, installed Ceramic Pro's 9H coating to the car, and tested out some of SolarGard's newer products.

VortexIR 35 Ceramic on the windows, XenithIR 70 Ceramic on the w/s, and sunroofs. I am happy! It's got the nice blue luxury look on the w/s and the color is great on the windows. My wife is thrilled, I'm happy and my family will be riding in style.

    Hope everyone is well,

  2. if they've done caulking before, they'd probably be a lot more qualified than you to do it, assuming you've never done it before

Have done it before on small jobs only (didn't get any pictures to show). Have used a professional caulking company for larger jobs.

The glass co. is used to caulking - but maybe not with DC 995 which is trickier to work with than standard silicone caulks. Have explained to them that the 995 needs to extend at least 3/8" onto the film and 3/8" onto the frame - but figured a pic would make it clearer.

Suntint, I have a tech bulliten from SolarGard/Armorcoat that spells it out very nicely with images and explanations. I would be happy to supply that if you shoot me an email.

  3. Sputtered films tend to create more problems than standard metallized films. We have sputtered bronze 20% on our storefront, and I wish I had a dollar for every time somone dropped a call in the store.

    Hi Jayz81,

    Bingo.

The sputtered films are the culprits - the Ni Chrome Films in particular.

Standard vapor deposited aluminum films (typcial dyed-metal hybrids) are no factor. We have been selling the Global CHP for more than a decade without a single report of signal issues. If you are unsure what metals are in your film or which deposition method was used, check with your manufacturer.

For some reason, the myth that all metal films block signals still persists. Having metal in the film provides a dramatic increase in solar performance. It is a shame that many dealers rule it out over unfounded concerns.

So then something like Global HP film should be ok since it's a standard metal film?

    Global HP

My other choice is a Formula One Pinnacle film with ceramic. Of course, it's about double the cost.

The other benefit to metal films is their reflectivity.

There are three things you can do with the suns energy. Reflect it, absorb it and transmit it. When you have a low reflectance film that has high heat rejection the absorption will be very high so the heat is being held by the film.

  4. You'd think if this guys ass was on the line for 3yrs in prison someone could fork up more than $200 for an expert witness to help prove the key argument in the case. If no one local wanted to upset the local PD an out of towner would have been a no brainer.

That being said, I've backed out of that exact task for two reasons. One my employer probably wouldn't want me doing it, and as much as I support the right to police following the rules I'm not going to be the guy to help a drunk or a drug dealer walk.

  5. PLEASE , Put up a pic of said vehicle , with the visor strip in full view.

Most anyone here can spot a too low strip.

I'm sure he wants to proove you cannot tell from a distance. Therefore the stop was not legal.

Mr. Lawyer, what charges is your client facing? Other than illegal tint, which no one would ever employ a lawyer or expert witness to help fight.

  6. Thats what I'm talkin bout! And if you want perfect edges, just bump it up and shave. Use it as an upsell, I'm all about the best installs.

I just did the math today, a new plotter and service would run a shop open 6 days a week for 50 weeks a year $21 a day, that goes down to $6 a day the second year once the plotter is paid for. Best helper you can employ at that price!
