Agreed... have a car there that is already tinted.
-
While I can't really comment on car shows, since I don't do cars, I have done home shows for flat-glass, which may or may not be similar. (car enthusiasts vs. homeowners)
If it were me, I would invest the $250. At the end of the day, it's not very much. I would get a high-end car to sit in your 'booth' - I assume you'd have a spot - to showcase the tinting. Have cards and/or postcard type flyers for people to take with them.
I dunno... doesn't seem like much of an investment, but like I said - two totally different markets so I could very well be way off base.

Interesting topic. I've always wondered if they were worth doing.
-
Yep... at some point you'll end up using the whole roll of frost.
Of course the other deco films - those order on a per job basis.
-
Not really. Solyx is pretty much the place to get deco from.
Small jobs cost a lot... no different then if you called an electrician to install one wall outlet.
-
Raise your price to cover shipping costs.

The only problem I see with trying these different films is that while you get to see how they look and shrink, you can't know how they will hold up over the course of a year or 4. It might go on great and look good, but turn to crap 6 months down the road.

Na... so far it's been civil.
Up to the Boss though....
-
Wow... didn't even think of that. I dunno... if he really didn't want to be filmed, I don't think the owner would have shown it.
Of course, if he didn't and did not say anything... that's on him.
Not sure what the PA laws are for shop owners.......
-
That could be too... I can't remember if he's talked about getting something different or not. (I watch a couple car channels and they kindof blur together)
-
What I don't get - is this kid is smarter then that.... at least he seems that way from his videos. Which I know - vlogs are edited to how they want to be shown.... but he's not dumb. Not sure why he went with that film.
And I've read enough youtube comments tonight so I can't read any from that video. lol

1. I give Mike (car owner) props on using child labor to move that thing inside.
2. I don't really like businesses that are based on the theme of illiteracy. (Name ends in a 'z') - no offense to any members here though
3. He's been pulled over before, so I'm sure he will again for the tint. So even though it's probably junk, it might be taken off before it goes bad.
4. If the tint guy is an actual friend (I didnt pay attention super closely) he should have talked Mike into using the Johnsons films.
Umm... I think thats all I noticed. I did see the dirt that JH pointed out... can't really tell how good the job is without see it up close. Hopefully (?) it's not full of sand.

I watch this guys vids... he's in PA (which he just said in the vid - doh!)
Well.. I know little about auto film, but I don't recall hearing that brand before, so it's probably junk. And on that car - laughable.
But he's just some kid who doesn't, evidently, know much or care to learn much about the differences in film.
Just my 2cents though.

Looks good roach. Was that the job where they didn't supply you with a high enough lift??
Yep. All those years in the Munich Circus paid off!!
I got a slightly used pair of stilts if anyone is interested.
-
Thanks. Unfortunately getting shots inside was rather hard the way the area is laid out and everything. At least with the external shot I could get everything included in one picture.

Thanks Ric! I'm pretty proud of the project and how it turned out.

The ghosting on the back... was that visible to the installer as soon as it happened?? Or does it show up after the film dries?

One of my pet peeves is being on a call, whether received or outgoing, and the other person begins carrying on a conversation with someone at their end without regard.
Pure inconsideration and rudeness.
Agreed a million times over!! I can't stand that.... I have friends that do that and it just annoys me to no end.
That and the whole relaying of the conversation as Bham said... like wth?!?! Why can't they just talk on the phone themselves?!?!?!?!

Sorry to hear about Brayden...

Here is his website if you wanna check it out....

Kindof sorta spammy... but a personal endorsement...
Does attending Car shows/events as a vendor pay off?

If you do it, let us know how it went.
One other suggestion, which you may do this already... Afterward, when people call you, ask how they found you. That way you can get an idea if it was from the show or some other means. Or maybe offer a 10% discount for people who found you at the show.
Any marketing is, IMO, a waste if you can't track it at least somewhat. Otherwise you'll have no idea what is working best for you.
