I removed both spoilers, the inside panels and wiper mechanism as well. I didn't take pics of those.

I usually shrink at least 5 at once.....save them for later !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So only taking interior pieces apart and spoilers?    No exterior pieces except the spoiler?

Overall, an easy car to tint.....EXCEPT for that back window.... LOL!!!!

It's doable, but the spoiler(s) will need to be removed, and it's alot to remove too!!!!

I removed both spoilers (top n bottom) for ease of shrinking....I also find it easier to shrink up ( anchor it lower towards the bottom) b/c the curve on top is not as extreme as the curve on the bottom....leave extra tint on top and bottom for pulling.

I notice your pic only has the spoiler revoved, but the next poster has an exterior panel removed.    Are there Different variations, or were you just able to remove the spoiler taking less apart?

  3. To the original poster, while the idea is a very good one.   The problem will be as stated above too many people want it to fit different ways.   You may have somebody say xx needs to be larger and you do it and find out its too big for you.     I will give you the best heads up I can with the software.   Anything 2002 and down might be a bad pattern so prepare the extra time in case it is.   Remember that back then door gaps where common to be 1/8 and now they are micro edge.   The tighter gap could lead to light showing at the bottom

  4. ...dude do you really think the list will ever end lol , theres always gonna be patterns that you don't like but no one else has complained about. TT is not going to change it for just you...trust me been there. You'll have to save your own and remember for next time, im just saying.

He is absolutely right!   What you may find is too small or large another person might find fits perfectly.   For the most part unless light is showing it fits although many feel its too small.   Panel pullers will want everything larger and tuckers will want them smaller.      Bottom line is there will be a learning/adjustment period that you will have to get past.

  5. Computer Cut will let you use any film you want. You pay a higher monthly fee unless you buy a minimum amount of film per quarter from Solar Gard but the patterns are the best I have found :twocents

Stan they used to be the best, but tintek has beaten them.    I switched after years of using computercut because in one day three cars in a row could not be found.  one being an 04 deville

  6. There is a Huge difference between watching the competition and worrying about them!  When you worry you lose sight of your business!   We have a guy who is dropping his prices, hash tagging our shops name in every social media post he does, in an attempt to steal customers looking for us on facebook and Instagram.    However I am not worrying about him one bit, but rather laugh at him for looking so desperate.

  7. Yelp is a tint shops worst nightmare!   For one they don't organically post reviews, but rather use an algorithim * sp  to decide what reviews will be posted.  aka the guy who does a lot of reviews is more likely to get his review posted .    they also will tell you that most places have a 85% positive review on their page.   So you bend over backwars to have excellent customer service and end up with the same positive rate as the douchebag down the road.    Lastly it seems to attract the worst types of customers.   the ones who will go over the glass with Jewelers goggles and then complain about 2 specks in the back window, and of course leave you a bad review when you say that's to be expected.

  8. you must be kidding me right experience has nothing to do with quality. sure a tinter with one or two years experience is a good tinter. I know I sucked back then compared to now.

As far putting down other tint shops PLEASE show me where I once said that I bad mouth the other shops around me. Suppose you cant since I never stated that.

As far as bieng a liar again I will say this some factory glass will make your vehicle hotter. Why dont you do a little research on this subject rather than just take me-tints word on it. ( no offence me-tint ILL explain what I mean here)

Right off of pilkingtons web site.

Pilkington has long been a market leader in body tinted glass compositions. Opticool and Ez kool are solar absorbing glasses, providing significant improvements to occupant comfort. these products reduce heat entering through a vehicles glazed area by up to around 20 percent. Compared to a car equiped with standard tinted glass.

Now what does that tell you dumb dumb . That not all factory tint works the same if there premiere lines only reduce up to around 20 % of the heat what does standard tint reduce? I would have to say nothing. Even if it is reducing it by 5% That is close enough to say it does nothing.

Now lets talk absorbtion here. glass is like a sponge it can only absorb so much. So once it has met is limit of absorbsion where do you think the heat will go. Back out to the source of the heat or into the cooler area. Does not take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

go to ppg's web site check that out you will see a list of cars supplied whith thier glass. You will notice that it does not have every vehicle on it. And it will also state that they may not be the sole supplier of the glass.

As far as the industry lying on the numbers. HMMM lets see ever hear of vioxx. Lied about the case studys and the amount of side affects

Ever hear of chevy who in I believe it was 1984 lied about the performance numbers of the corvette. Forgot to mention that when the car ran what it ran. They took off all unnecasary equipment like ac pump power steering box

how about buick when they lied about the grand national. they under rated the thing by far

And lets use this as a perfect example of creative wording if you will . You know what I said before about marketing tools and stretch the truth a little. direct form pilkington IT WILL REDUCE UP TO AROUND 20%. They give you no definate # just an aproximation.

up to around what the hell is that suppose to mean.

So before you go running your mouth again. Know what your talking about first.

And as far as who gives this industry a bad name. It is people like you who just started tinting a year ago. Who think they know what they are doing, And have no idea what they are talking about

So before you go and begin with the your a liar @#$% do a little research on the subject your calling someone a liar about. Even if every single piece of factory tinted glass had minimal benefit. to me minimal benefit is the same as nothing. If I say I am broke but have 10 cents in my pocket am I lying ? In a way yes I would be because I have 10 cents. but lets be realistic if you only have a dime you are broke. doesnt make you a liar does it .

I almost forgot your stupid statement about huper. This statement alone shows your lack of marketing knowledge.

    Doesnt huper sell itself

NO IT DOES NOT . yes it is the top of the line film on the market, but it still has to be sold. You have to explain to the customer why it cost so much more than the other films. You have to inform the customers with cars deserving of it about it.

Get back to me when you have a clue about how to sell, run a business, and even how to tint

  9. No numbers dont lie but companys do about the numbers. And again like you said listen or in this case read. AS I SAID NUMEROUS TIMES SOME FACTORY TINT actualy makes the car hotter, as well as some dyed film.

As far as $99 h@ck I am the only huper optic dealer within 60 miles of my shop. I suppose huper does not care how the install looks on thier top of the line film yeah that makes sence.

But again each post you write only shows how little you know about how business is actualy done in this world everyday. I can easily see what your problem is. Your very confused about what you actualy are. If you own your own shop you are not a tinter your a business man, But since you cant grasp that concept maybe you are just a tinter. Because your better off you make a horrible bussiness man.

Now since you want to get into the imature cheap shots. Why dont we get the truth out . You dont have enough experience to do more than a $99 h@ck job. Nor do you have the inteligence to know how to run a business. You sit there and take 4.5 hrs to have an 04 accord done half decent. while ill spend no more than 1.5 hr's on it and actualy make a profit . All the while doing a much better job than you could possible do . Now there was no need for all of this, but you felt the need to run your mouth because I dont have the same opinion as you. as far as the way to run a business. You should have just kept your mouth shut, and relaized that on this site there will be quite a few differnent tactics and strategies on this matter. Rather than open your mind to the fact that someone with more experience than you maybe right. You felt the need to run your mouth. As you see no one other than you felt the need to run thier mouth. Not even the guys who know what they are doing or had a business more than a few years. And agian I have an excelent reputation. One that you could only hope to someday have.

Now with that bieng said I will no longer post on this topic. Because it has been exhausted. It is people like you on here that keep me from posting more often. As soon as you see something you disagree with. You want to start running your mouth like a lil child. No sweat off my back though I could care less about your h@ck arse and the amount of money you will never make. I will be fine either way

  10. You must be joking right? Do you honestley feel that it is unprofessional to inform my cutomers that what they think is an effective product against heat reduction is not at all what they think. maybe if you tried it you would do a little more business. And as far as down selling and up selling go. Do you not realize that by down selling factory tint I am at the same time up selling my film. But that is unprofessional right? I suppose you never heard compared to other leading brands our product cant be beat. I suppose that statement is unprofessional as well ? If you cant see how creative wording is a very important marketing tool . You will never be able to out sell any of your competition.

As far as the lying part goes. As I said some of the factory glass can actualy make the vehicle hotter not cooler. there have been studys done that have shown that fact. So in all reality I am not lying at all to my customers. just informing them that my product works better than thier factory tint, and that it may actualy make thier car even hotter. Now if you cant pick up on this type of marketing tool . Especialy with todays gas prices. I would h@te to be in your shoe's during these slow month's. I dont know about you but I do not titn windows because I enjoy it. I do it to make money and for no other reason than that.

But you go ahead and run your business as you wish and be one of those guys who just gets by every year. And I will run my business they way I choose. You should be aware though that there is no such thing as a succesfull business man or woman who does not stretch the truth once in a while to make a sale. If your going to have to deal with the headache of bieng in business you may as well make as much cash as you can for it, but thats just how I look at it . You are entitled to look at it any way you wish. Maybe your content with only making 50 to 75 grand a year. I know I can make a ton more and I shall. This business is all about reputation the better your reputation the more cash you can make, and I have an excelent reputation witch makes me money day in and day out. Yes I have some people who have a bad word or two to say about me, And I dont realy care I have been doing this long enough to know that no matter what you do or how far you go . To try to please everyone you will never please them all. someone will be pissed for this or that. maybe it is because I didnt wash the car when I was done. Oh well I am a tinter not a detailer get over it. Even with this attitude that you probably dont agree with . I still tinted 1400 cars last year. So I realy dont care what you think or anyone else thinks. My pocket is allways full and I know that even during my slow times I will be fiancialy ok.

Maybe you should have worked for a few other shops as I did . Before you opened up your own so you could have learned a little bit about business first. I dont care how good you can titn If you know nothing about business you will struggle .I have worked for a h@ck shop That put out horrible work . With the cheapest tint possible . Yet they still did 16 cars a day

  11. Is it lying to tell a customer that by tinting the back end of your truck or suv. Will save you money in gas becuase what the factory put on there. Is not nearly as effective as I film I could install . As far cutting down heat . No it is not a lie becuase as we all know it will reduce gas consumption caused by ac use. By reducing the amount of heat allowed into the vehicle. and then I will even go into the saftey aspect of after market window film. I suppose I am lying to them when I tell them that. If in an accident the film will stay intact and hold the glass together. Keeping out of the kids eyes .

So before you start spouting off about proper sales tactics. Learn how to sell what it is your trying to sell. It is not wrong to down sell another product on based on the flaws of the product. It is how business is done everyday.

  12. It has been a while since I have been on here, but I see a point in this statement. This knowledge is more of a marketing tool than anything. If you explain to a customer who comes in for just two fronts. That by tinting the rear end of thier car they will actualy save gas money. Because it will help cut down on ac use as we all know it will. You will find your self selling alot more jobs that where only two fronts. and some factory glass will only make the truck even hotter becuase it has no heat reflectance at all. It absorbs the heat and can only push it inside.

  13. I am looking for an experienced glass tinter. And possible a good indidvidual to train. We are in the philadelphia area we offer good pay and a pleasant work atmosphere. I am not one of those guys who opens up a tint shop because I had some money to invest. Without ever tinting a vehicle in my life. I was and still am a tinter so I know what is like to be an installer. Because of that you will find be to be a great guy to work for. I know what can be done and what can not be done . If you are interested in this position you can email me at pierce8468@yahoo.com or you can call me at 267-974-7012

  14. I dont know how long it takes you to do this back glass. It use to take me forever. some of you may allready do it this way. but if not I am sure you will want to try it this way next time. I normaly would take all the tension away from the curve and try to shrink around it. and it just took forever. this one I anchored it a little high to get as much tension up yop as I could without going over board. (oh and this is a dry shrink not wet ) then I pulled all the tension from the side of the curve. And put it on the curve and shrunk it out there. by doing it on the curve I could spread it out over towards the middle of the glass. and I never let any of it go to the opposite side of the curve. then I just shrunk the top as normal. when I installed it I did have a slight pull back near the curves and I knew that I would. but that is fine 10 seconds of heat on each side and they layed right down. the whole process shrink and install took me around 20 min's. only took that long because it was the first one I did this way. so I was taking my time and making sure not to squeege the wrong way and crease it. next one should be faster . I know I am not very good at explaining titn procedures via internet. But I hope that you can get the idea and make your next saturn sl alot easier

  15. I tried to post the pics but I cant get em small enough to post them myself. Ive eamiled them to td and asked him to post them. hopefully I sent them to the right address. but any way Ive been trying my hand at glass art latley and it seems so far to be going well. thanks of course to the people on here. had it not been for the suggestion a few months ago I recieved. about using transfer tape to do them . I never would hvae been able to do the ocean scene. I will be doing a few more of these and as I do I will post pics of them. My plan is to just keep doing things like this so that I can get a little book together to show possible customers. like tatoo shops , pet shops, restaurants who knows . bit I am sure there will be money in this type of tint work. It is kind of hard to tell by the pics all the different colors in the scene. like the lobster looks red and I know it is a big lobster in proportion to the rest. but I had to throw him in there. and it is also hard to see that the sharks have gold teeth :lol but you'll get the idea . as professionals id realy like to get your opinons on them . the door scpae is just a simple one took maybe three hors total to finish. that counts design time and time spent picking out the unwanted material. and yes this was all done on computer. I am not artistic enough to have cut it out by hand

  16. As we all know these blades easily get rusty from the smallest amount of moister. only to ruin an entire pack of blades. I am sure most of you have ways to protect them from moisture. buts lets be honest sometimes no matter how careful you are. when your busy it is easy to get a pack ruined. ive found the easiest and best way to protect them. Is to open up the pack take out the blades and spray them with a metal lube. the best product ive found so far is cr lawrence metal lube. It sprays a fine mist giving the blades just enough oil not to rust. But not so much that it gets oil all over the glass.
