Yeah the vents pop out pretty easy. Unless they are the carbon fiber ones. Those tabs tend to break on the vent itself and they ain't cheap

Don't know the cost of that but I bought a mini 12v compressor at harbor freight for $20 that has been working great for the past 3 years

I have had a Mac roller stool since 1991. Paid. $60 and never an issue. Changed the wheels years ago when the new style wheels came out. Buy now I've moved onto a new snap on one. Probably over paid, $250, but I love quality tools

Is this newer than say a few months ago? I tried the film out a few months ago and it was a bit troublesome.

Might burn the car but it'll get the job done

I second the vinyl over ppf. Unless already installed the air gap between the painted and vinyl stripe might be an issue at some point. It might never be an issue, but if you have a blank canvas, do what will net you best long term results. I have done both installs, ppf over and under and prefer stripes on top. Just makes a for a cleaner install in my opinion.

PM your info and I will send you a sample large enough to fully appreciate the new version.
Thanks I will send you the info

The sample came from hexes when they were local, Ontario CA. They gave a small sample, it was maybe 1ft X 5ft. Not really enough to much more than a section of a hood.

I used the sample I was given. It went on nice, but the finish was not as good as suntek, which is our go to brand. It was just too textured for our taste. Don't know about durability since we only had the sample and ripped it off after we saw the finish.

Hi Waxworkz, I did send you a message but have had no reply. Could you forward me on the information regarding ppf sealants particularly the product you mentioned for premiumshield. If any of you want some coating ideas, send me a PM. I have a some import options going on. Worked great to remove the tackyness of the premium shield. Made it ultra slick. We have spray on si02 coating as well as traditional ceramic coating
Many thanks
Steve
Funny I have no messages. I'll send you a pm

Shit I have to find their booth tomorrow

Wrap over the hole, use heat and a glove or squeegee to form around the jack. Wait for it to cool, anap a fresh blade and cut around the jack. Same way we do rivets or cut outs for parking sensors.
Great thanks, I will give that a try. I have a few scrap bits I can practice with first. So would I cut the cross pattern still then?
I'd form it with heat as much as possible, take a blade and use the rim of the jack as a guide. Cut at an angle so you get most coverage

We have waited long enough in the UK for the 'new' film, now there is a 'new new' film how long will we wait for this one?
Lol spoke to the 3M rep last week, guess now there is a new, new, new version. It's supposedly a better version, with better adhesive.

Waxworkz,
Sorry for the delay in response. The New, New Version that you are talking about will be available in early June. Feel free to get in touch with myself or your local distributor and we can get you a sample. You can keep your tack solution the same as what I posted above but I would start with about 1 mil. of Baby Shampoo in your slip solution and adjust from there. You will find that you do not need as much slip from the start for most installations. Let me know if you have any questions and I am happy to help!
Thank you,

Awesome. I will definitely give you a call for a sample. I've tried the older versions and was not a fan,but always willing to give it another go.

A standard two bottle solution is most widely used on the current version of Pro Series. With the first generation of the film back in 2014 we used an all in one bottle with distilled water. Distilled is still recommended but not a must. Listed below is currently what I use and train other with.
Slip: 32 oz. Water with 2-3 mils. of Baby Shampoo (Soap content will change depending on humidity levels and installation temp.)
Tack: 6-8 oz. of 70% IPA in a 32 oz. spray bottle with 24 oz. of Water. (15-25% IPA depending on what you like if you are using 70% IPA)
Thank you,

Is this film you speak of the new, new version? I've heard it's quite nice. Have yet to get a sample though

It takes as long as it takes. When you start going for time, you start sacrificing quality. I'm not saying you do, so please don't take it personally, just what I've seen in the industry.

Well then, being as you know so much, doesn't that make your question a bit redundant? I mean you should know what you don't know correct? I did view your post history, now I am confident that I also know what you don't know.... But then again, what do I know I'm only a "dope" that helped forge an industry... and people wonder why those of us that have been in the industry so long and built successful thriving companies, don't help on forums as much as we used to...Here is my other thread:
http://www.tintdude.com/forum/index.php/topic/83410-brushed-steel/
Since we're so off course and I'm obviously not going to get any help, on my first thread I made an off-hand remark about PPF before my wrap question, and these dopes thought I was confusing PPF with wrap. No, if you read my posting history here you'll find I have a pretty good knowledge of these things, apparently better than anyone here since no one knows the answers to my questions I just didn't know that there was a wrap-specific forum where I should have put the thread.
That sucks for those of us who "don't know everything" and ask for help. Honestly rob has been very helpful to me in the past!

Well I didn't mean anything bad by my question, nor my response. I was just curious. Maybe my phone did glitch.
To respond to he quote, you won't get much help calling us "dopes" and thinking we know less than you do. Maybe you know more than some, maybe not. But making derogatory comments won't get you any help

Wow I posted earlier and now my post is gone??
Nope, no one has deleted anything, are you sure it's not another thread?
No sir I'm sure it was this one. It's cool, nothing I can't repost.

Well given it was a precut kit and not tucked under the light then you were wrong yet again
Like I said I could be wrong. Also never said anything about cutting on the car...could be a gouge from tucking it in under the light. Either way I am glad you have the confidence and hope it helps to sell the jobs. With that being said, flawless still don't happen. You are completely wrong
Firstly we have never cut on the car Not in our entire history second there are no install flaws on that car
I trust you have taken that up with the client concerned
I am afraid your photo interpret ion skills leave a great deal to be desired
Possible is not the same as actual
If that's the best you have try harder
In 14 years there is not one single documented instance of us cutting on the car
Like I said climb on a plane and check for yourself
Many players including those from Xpel Suntek and 3m have crawled all over our work over the years and never found any flaws in the work in progress
Cheers
The sun shines directly onto vehicles in that position when the shutter is up for inspection
And given it was taken on an employees phone the resolution would tell you nothing
I had an installer and trainer who has been in the industry for 19 years with us for two weeks prior to Christmas he came in not believing it either
He left with a different view on what is achievable especially with these new films
Anyone on here can do likewise it's simply a desire to push the envelope and refusing to believe they are capable of delivering it that holds some installers back
If you don't believe in yourself than it will never be possible.
The more of us that aim for these standards and achieve them the more the industry will grow and the better yield per job everyone can enjoy
Cheers
I'm coming to your shop on vacation, so I can get some training. Lol

Can you provide some close ups of that bumper? It was a bitch in gloss, can't imagine full coverage in stealth
