for those that see PPF after 1 year, 2 year, etc The self healing in PPF afaik, is a top coat. Akin, to clear coat, as once the topcoat of the self heal is diminished, it's just *ppf* With summer underway, super sticky summer rubber that kicks back everything on the lower door panels What is the effect of rock chips on self heal on PPF over the long term. Will it just look peppered after 2-3 years depending obviously on time/mielage and how much debris in thrown at in (strictly asking on the self heal ppf). The older ppf just looks (salt and peppered ish). Or sofar, from you pro's have seen, the self heal still looks pretty go…

Thought I would put some fresh energy in this corner of the forum. This was a sweet goose egg when I started. Went around and freshened up the rest of the pannels after the hood was finished. Who's next? Gotta be some more pannel pounders on the TD

The guys on this YT channel do a mostly decent job of pointing out why the substrate was not in the best condition for wrap removal. And why you should WAIT after a repaint before you wrap it. Removal starts at around 3:18. Would have been nice to see more footage of the removal. This vid may be a great tool to educate custys on substrate condition .

So I have a peeling hood on my truck and was thinking wrapping it might be a good solution. I've never worked with wrap, so I don't know if this would be a good one to try myself or have it done professionally? Also, what do you think I might expect to pay? If it's something I can do myself, does anyone have any recommendations? I was thinking flat black, as the truck is blue metallic and the paint is ok on the rest of it. Also, what material should I use? Sorry for all the noob questions.

Looking for some input. I do not do vinyl wraps. I have removed a lot of vinyl over the years but never a full wrap. The car is coming in in a few days for my to give an estimate on removing his wrap. I am just looking for any insight from someone who has done it. I'm not even sure I will accept the job based on current workload. I'm assuming steam and or heat gun will be the best method. Thank you in advance for any advice.

So I'm looking to wrap a fuel tank off my '74 Honda cb550. It should actually be fairly straightforward, except for the mounting base for the tank cap. It stands about 3/4'' proud of the tank surface on the tank's back. I'm very new to vinyl wraps, so maybe this is easier than I realize. How do I attack this? Make a hole in the vinyl slightly smaller than the lid mount base's circumfrence so when it shrinks it will settle against the tube's base? Or shrink the vinyl over the entire tank, then cut around the cap base and do further heat shrinking? Or other? Thanks in advance. This image is not my tank, but gives a decent impression of what the cap's base l…

Just wanted to pass on something neat that we found. We have been using Camo4u for our camo wraps and it has worked really well, but we have been looking for something to use on interior car parts to make them camo. They vinyl has worked good on the dash and larger parts, but the smaller parts always gave us problems. Here is a new camo dipping kit that we found at is has worked very well for us http://www.camodipkit.com - it is called the Camo Dip Kit and they use hydro camo water printing to make small and intricate shaped parts turn camo. Just wanted to share. Here are the links of who we use: Camo Vinyl Kits - http://www.camo4u.com Camo Dip Kit - http://www.camodip…

I have cquarts skin coating that I am going to be applying to my wrap. The coating instructions are to remove the grease and oil from the wrap before applying. Is there any problem with GYEON q2m prep ? Or do you have any suggestions on what to use that would help it to adhere and not damage the vinyl?

What do you do about wrapping an older vehicle with dings? Is there a way of hiding them other than body work? Or do you just wrap right over the ding?

Hi, I have a crease dent on the edge of my front Audi aluminum hood. It was pressed too hard when closing causing the crease. Its where the double metal of the edge on the inside hood. As you can see, it starts about 1" from the edge (from the inside, its where the double metal is bonded) and I have also included the inside of the hood. The top of the hood is PPF film protected (clear bra) . Is this fixable? I'm in Southern California and hoping someone with experience can be recommended in S…

Hi everyone, I'm new here and have a question. First of all, I'm a graphic designer (primarily printed marketing materials) and have been approached by several customers wanting vehicle wrap designs that can be delivered to a local wrap shop for print and installation. I need to know what dimensions and resolution are required for a good print. TIA, FR.

I am looking to expand my existing window tinting shop that has been growing. I do not want to run the daily operations, nor do I want to install anymore. I have a good commercial tinting business located in North San Diego California, but am interested in getting back to the retail side of the business. If you are looking to get out of window tinting, wrap, flat glass or would like to partner/share wharehouse space on the automotive retail side of the business, let me know. I am considering: San Diego(north county) Ca. Thanks

Does anyone know of a good boat vinyl that i can purchase? I don't need very much. Just enough to put some black vinyl stripes across the bottom of the hull. Also any tips would be awesome. I have done a few on cars, but to the extent of putting some racing stripes and a lot of logos. Thank you for any info/tips!

Can somebody please explain how the word 'livery' came into being instead of the word 'wrap'. Much like when I hear people described the window film on their car as 'tints', it makes me cringe every time.

Hey Guys, I have a 72 Datsun 240z that I want to paint later down the road by sandblasting it (the car has been repainted over the last one), but for a temp fix I am planning on doing a vinyl wrap. I have bought a roll of 3m vinyl. I know that vinyl will show any imperfections and will not stick to anything that is rough and not well prepared. I have been working on spots on my car to fix this issue. I sanded to metal in some spots and applied bondo, then putty. I am about to put automotive primer and a rustoleum flat black on top of any bondo or metal area, but NOT the whole car, just on areas without original paint. A couple questions. …
