  1. Reason im asking is because ive been noticing a lot of illegal window tint coming out of tint shops not far from my shop. I didnt know if its just the "norm" to do illegal tint as well as legal tint?

ok the best way i know how to deal with these customers is by straightup asking them ( Do you have any drugs you can sell me i'm looking for some pills and maybe some weed).

Ok they might look at you like you are crasy, but didn't they just basiclly ask you for the same thing, to sell them something illegaly.

Now ask yourself would you open a business to sell illegal stuff out of. i think not.

Now weather or not you tint windows for someone illegally is up to you, Personaily if they want their windows dark i will only show them how to put it on and sell them the film precut, but i don't tint windows ilegally. :lol

  2. as it may be quicker to tint door with door panels on. most newer cars are just getting easier to remove the door panels. I think i can remove the Door panel from a newer nissan or toyota in about 5 mins flat. Just watch unplugging the switches on some of these new cars you may have to reprogram a window switch if it loses memory.

  3. I thought only rookies burned panels and moldings :poke

i was training a kid who burned a big azz hole in a Dr Panel of a brand new grand prix. He was asking me a question and i was in the next bay over from him. All i remember was OH CHIT COME HERE FOR A SEC. I knew then it couldn't be good. And $675 later the customer gets a new dr panel. :boogie

  4. Top of Door panel will not take heat under your heatgun. Looks like a vinyl skin over the top half of the door panel and it will melt under your heatgun. 2011 Nissan Rogue :spam

Thats good to know i get quite a few of those to do just the front doors on. But i gotta ask why did you need heat on those doors i don't think i've ever had to heat one out? Have they changed the door glass on the 2011? :thumb

  5. i have always had really good luck using johnson film. i used them first at a shop i started at years ago. i have also used about every other film out there since then. the other shops i had worked at wouldn't take a chance with their film. however i have gone back to using johnson film for comm/res, as well as for my automotive film. good easy to work film, and i can apply it with way less shampoo then any other film i have ever installed.

  6. most my automotive work is for dealerships and yes it can be easy to get in. If they don't have anyone they are using for tint work it's a shoe in. If they are already using someone maybe alittle tougher but car dealers are always looking for ways to save money, so if you can give them quaility work for a better price then they are paying now. Then they should atleast give you a shot. Now once you get in make sure you give them top quaility work and nothing less. The first time a saleman has to explain a bad window to their customer you will never hear from them again. And as for headaches YES car salesman don't really give a dam about you. If you want do dealership work at new car lots you really I mean REALLY better be on your A GAME.

  7. yeah i have to say that while some tinter love film on I do not. I think we had a bottle of film on at the first shop i worked at. A sales rep left us with a bottle to try it out. We tried it alright and went straight back to baby shampoo. And here's why i have stuck with the shampoo. For 1 easy to find at any store. And for what a bottle of film on costs i could buy a months worth of baby shampoo. Now as far as using straight rubbing alcohol never tried it. but i would imagine it would tack up like super fast and i like alittle time to get a piece where i want it. Might be really good for tinting in cooler weather though.

  8. any window tinter knows that if you install this stuff people expect you to have some super secret way of taking it off. Truth is there is no fun way to remove window film. It that all the windows I have had to strip maybe 2 or 3 cars have just peeled off nicely without leaving a whole lot of glue, but in your case this will not be happening. My advice to you is to use atleast 1 or 2 razor blades per window and keep the glass wet and warm if possible. Scrape across the window at a 45% angle and it will come off pretty quick. But if your backglass is as bad as I think it is. Wait till you have about a half a day a six pack and some 0000 steel wool. Use the steel wool until it is full of little film peices and glue. Then get another beer and a piece of steel wool. The wool is for the windows don't eat the steel wool and pour the beer on the windows has to be the other way around. By the time you finish the six pack your backglass should be nearly clean.
