  1. I was one of the southeast dealers named in the lawsuit against solar gard for knowingly selling defective films. The conference room filled with dealers at the attorneys meetings would disagree with you. It took me 7 years to clean up the mess. All brands have their issues. But when a corporate policy is to denie the problem for years. It's not company I chose to do business with. In the end if you and your customers are happy with it great. But in my area were solar gard used to dominate the market. Non of the big guys use it anymore.

Fair call. You have experienced something with SG that I haven't . Many swear by SunTek , yet I have experienced far more premature auto film failures with this brand than any other I have ever used.

  2.

Just looking to see people's opinions on what they prefer between the two. Llumar isn't a option for now so I have to choose between these two.

solargard process for cleaning their film before they put glue on creates distortion in their films. Last year Tom Bird tried to get me to come back to sg. He assured me they had solved the issue. He sent me samples. I opened a box of their premier windshield film. Same as before distortion. Sad really as I was a dealer for almost 20 years.

^^Can't agree. I used SolarGard for over 10 years and have always found SG to be a high quality product. The optical clarity was fine and I only processed a handful of warranty claims in that time. I mainly used HP Supreme and Quantum in the auto line up and just about every film in their FG catalogue.

I also used pretty much the entire  SunTek range for around 6 years and the amount of warranty claims on Carbon and CXP I experienced have been crippling.

If it's a choice between the 2, go solarGard all the way. SunTek is an inferior product by far.

  3. Singleton has a huge Sun Dial, that should be worth the trip alone.

My opinion on the Everest is Fusion 33% on the 2 front and 70% on the rears, so far that matches the best, Never had a complaint about matching once that combo is used. Be aware that the front 2 windows will always look lighter due to the light flooding in from the windscreen.

    Hope this helps

Just waiting on the local tint shop to let me know regarding the fusion product he has not used it however was keen to get some to try and see how it goes etc. Might save me a drive and wait in Singleton LOL

Take the drive to Singleton. Elite Window Tinting is absolute top notch and well known in the industry.

Drop the car off and take a Hunter Valley wine tour for the day.

Does anyone know if it is unlawful to tint a vehicle darker than the states allowed VLT%?

Read this statement you made again and you'll find your answer :thumb2

    Oh and :welcome

I think he was nervous posting, cause I spied that and the title wording. The poke I made went over like an F35. :console  But that's okay, I have deadpan comedy type humor.

I love the line about Aus in your signature Smartie. :lol

Don't worry, if the world ends the Aussie Tint Duders will be straight on here to give our USA mates a 24 hour heads up. :scared

  5. Eastwood, you must respond to reviews like that  or petition to have them removed. Respond exactly in the way that you have in mind. Take the high road even offering online for all to see to sack all your staff and burn your shop to the ground to please the numbnuts.. :flamer

Having said that....there should be a law against a tinter 'tainting a guys new car experience' :bitchslap

Post up your response..should be a good laugh for us mate.

  6. Nice post funk.

Dealers trying to blame aftermarket companies for vehicle defects has always been a game they have played, but this trend is getting more prevalent as car manufacturers cut corners to bring in a cheaper product to market in this economy.

We usually see this with poor quality demister bars or defects in the glass, but blaming vehicle NVH issues on a tinter is a new low.

Nice pick up, thanks for sharing. :D

  7.  he nearly crapped a chicken lol.

    :lol

That's why customers are banned from my workshop. There is a perfectly comfortable waiting lounge for that.

Just explain that they cannot enter the workshop for OH&S reasons.

  8. I think most even panels pullers still say they shrink those. If course now someone will chime in and say they never have to.

You're right jh, and I'd counter that by saying if it shows spears then take a few secs and shrink it.

Sure you can stretch it out, but every time you get a finger there's the risk of contamination. Why take the risk of stuffing up your work, just shrink it in the first place. Stops the spears popping up later too.

  9. These. And a couple work p/u's I didn't bother taking pics of...

    Sweet Mustang Wolfie.

Tinted one for a local panel beater bus. Owner I do work for. It was one of the last that Shelby signed before he passed away and his pride and joy. The custy barely noticed my beautiful tint job with shaved edges, he was just amazed how I tricked the latch. Go figure :lol

  10. IMO 3M is the worst garbage in the market...I have 40% Crystalline on the doors on my GS350 2014...where the windows roll up into the track the color is coming off...I got rid of them as a dealer and will never use their garbage Film again...Household name yes...Quality product...No Way!!!

    Wow, big call that.

It's a pointless argument trying to agree on what is the best film on the market as everyone has their preferences and in any range their will be some standout films and some ho hum films but I have seen some absolute garbage films hit the market and 3M is nowhere near that level.

I have had CR40 on a company car now for 2 years and we have custys in this car every day running them around, winding the windows up and down and have seen nothing like you describe as yet.

I will grant you that CR doesn't have the best scratch/colour coat I have ever seen (not the worst either), but the colour is nice and there is no doubt that the film performs very well.To say the entire 3M range is just garbage is just a ridiculous statement that I wouldn't make about any of the major US film companies. :evileye

And yes I am a 3M dealer...and I also use and recommend daily most of the other brands on the market as well
