Its not worth it. Subaru has sent a memo out to all subaru employees to not touch the windshield. It has all kinds of sensors that is very sensitive. I believe it has something to do with the eyesight sensors. Basically if you mess it up it will be around $3500 to $7000 replacement and subaru will not warranty it.

So I tinted a 2015 legacy a couple months ago. Two days after that he came back for a strange wind sound at 35 mph coming from the pass front quarter window. I went for a test drive with him and inspected the rubber seals. And they all looked fine. I taped up the outside of the window and drove around again. Still made the sound. He was therefore convinced I didn't create the sound but he never noticed it until after the tint job. He took it to the dealer and the dealer said it was me that did it, and that I need to replace both front quarters and seals. I was thinking crap I'm going to end up paying 600 for all of this. The customer fights the dealer asking to s…

Are installers still avoiding windshield installation on Subarus due to the electronics (Eyesight?). Everything I've read says that a 70 or 80% tint will not affect the system in any way. Only warning is to not use ammonia based sprays as it messes up the electronics. I am a consumer and not an installer, so was curious as I just purchased a 2023 Crosstrek that I would like tinted. thanks

I did the fronts on a new Outback today and it was pretty simple as you would expect. It seems they changed up the gaskets but not in a bad way. I removed the screw from behind the handle and was able to pull back the top of the panel and slide it out. The small front quarters have a lot of blackout at the bottom which I don’t remember on previous generations. But nonetheless it makes for an even easier install. Easy breezy overall.

I've been trying to tint the back glass on my forester. It is the first car I've tinted. Side windows look great but I'm having a lot of trouble shrinking the back glass. I'm using Global qdp and dry shrinking with the H pattern. The center shrinks great but I end up with crumple up corners that can't shrink any further and end up creasing the film. Any tips or guidance is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, just wondering does anyone else here find when doing the rear screen of these new Impreza Sedans its very hard to get bottom corners to stick without is sucking up the soapy water solution from under the rear parcel shelf is? The water seems to have no where to go and it just sits in there like a swimming pool, I had done one before and noticed it and had another 1 today, i delibertly didnt use much water solution in the bottom corners and tried to mainly only wet the film but it still was very awkward in the bottom corners. Do you guys take the parcel shelfs out where you do these cars? I only took the brake light out but left the parcel shelf in. Hope this mad…

I took our 2015 Forester XT in to get some film on the front side windows. Nothing extravagant, just some 70% to keep the heat off. I pointed out the quarter windows to the tech and he told me that they wouldn't be an issue. After an hour, the vehicle rolls out. I immediately notice the melted rubber on the outside near the glass. Tech told me he didn't notice that when he did it, which seems difficult to comprehend. Anyway, he says he'll replace it. Inconvenience #1. Next I noticed that he trimmed away the rubber trim on the quarter glass. When asked, he told me that this was an industry standard practice to hide the tint lines. We're talking 70% here, not m…

I thought I'd done one of these before, but I don't remember the rear quarters being such a pain. First of all the seat belt thingy comes down the whole window, about 2 inches from the glass, and doesn't flex much at all. Second, the damn thing had an aweful lot of fingers, it was like those old Probes, where you heat up one finger and it turns into two bigger ones. I'm a stretcher, my first instinct isn't to shrink, so I ended up redoing them, shrinking them this time. Anyway, my question is, has anyone taken this rear panel off to remove the seat belt thingy, how much of a pain in the ass is it? I was able to tint it , I squeegeed, flushed the hell out of it, peeled…

Pretty easy. obviously like the FR-S, the third brakelight has to be taken apart to be removed. You can fit a bulldozer and a sideswiper behind it so just avoid trying to take it out.

Be it known..they went and put stationary windows in the front doors. May wanna add a few Pesos to your quotes. They are shaped and install nearly identical to the newest Civic generation. By the way I used Llumar ATC20 to match it up. It was pretty close, 15 was too dark.

I JUST TINTED THE WINDOWS ON A 2002 SUBARU OUTBACK LEGACY LIMITED AND IT WAS NOT VERY HARD AT ALL. THE REAR SIDE WINDOWS (WITH THE SEATBELT INFRONT OF THEM) WERE NOT ALL THAT HARD AT ALL. I READ ALOT ABOUT HOW HARD THOSE WINDOWS ARE AND HAD NO PROBEMS AT ALL. THE BACK WINDOWS TOOK ME 2 TRIES. FIRST TIME I PUT A SMALL CREASE IN IT AND SECOND TIME I DID IT IN 1 PIECE; I WOULD CALL THIS CAR AN EASY ONE TO DO.....DOORS WERE ALSO FRAMELES.

a few changes in these compaired to previous models. more pocket windows (6 total). back window can use 20" invenory. windows do shift a good amount when they reach the top. the corners are tight so I would advise heating them before rolling windows up. and push out on them. and the window gaskets are quite higher than previous models. the mount is only about 1" below the gasket. just some points to let you guys know. they changed quite a bit on the newest imprezas.

So I first ran into this on a Forester, but again recently on a Legacy. The bottom gasket (which is fastened to the actual panel, not just sitting on a channel) for some reason has metal running through the center of it, so it's exposed on both ends. I've twice now scratched the soft vertical part of the window frame while pulling panels. Subaru panels come off like butter, that's why I always choose to pull them. But to avoid this problem putting a 4" piece of tape at the bottom of the vertical frame is deffinatley worth the extra minute.

Did the hatchback today...relatively easy car, shrinks easily. They now have door frames though Side seals on the front roll ups suck, they're really tight but the back were ok. Front roll ups need shrunk. figured id add this since there was no info on this year. Happy tinting!

I'm having a heck of a time tinting this hatch window. I have messed up 2 pieces of film. The film I'm working with is security film. It's 4 mil thick. Is that why its such a pain? Dry shrinking is impossible with this film. Wet shrinking is much better but no matter what I do I can't get it to conform to the window. Eventually I burn it because I get impatient. I have never worked with tint this thick before. It's proving to be a nightmare! Thank god this is my personal car and not a customers car. I would change film but all the other Windows are done and dry.

I can do both but was wondering if I tucked, do I need to get below the bottom gasket too? OR just below the upper gasket and seal film good so I don't get peel up? Thanks,

Did one today. Easy, no shrinking except the back window. Panel pullers...do not attempt to pull the screw from the door handle and pry back the panel!!!!!!!!!!!!! The gasket is held in with bendable clips and the will "let go" of the panel. If you want to pull the panels, there are only two screws (door handle and grab handle) then you pop them off. This came in as a r/r. Some ass clown did the back glass in two pieces and had trash everywhere in the film. Replaced with Wincos. I had to remove all the door panels the fix the gaskets b/c the original hack tried to pry back on the panel.
