I ordered some from Interwest Tools also. And while I think it does a great job protecting the film from scratching it sometimes prevents me from quick and easy finessing. I don't use it much anymore, I just throw out my tools more often.

I also text customers (with permission) typically the day prior to remind and confirm with them. If they don't answer, I usually can fill the spot with a standby customer.

Man I already came back from SEMA. Wish I would've seen this post earlier to check it out lol. Nice truck!

Nice!! I especially like the visual explanation of the layers! Might be needing that file! I'll lyk!

I never expect tips for tint jobs but love it when I get them.
One thing I learned was to ask the customer to check the car out first before they pay up. This increases your chances for a tip lol.
But love getting money, beer or food

I wonder if you could use 4x the amount of the regular until you get the orange lol
Bro my tint will be slipping and sliding all the way to the next window!!!!!! Maybe I can use it as a body wash??? lmao!

I didn't end up doing it. But yes I read on Alpha Romeo forums about the amp problem. Someone posted a link here if you are interested.

Try the new orange it's more concentrated to use on it's own 4x the slip so you use less
Awesome bro. Once I finish this Gallon of tint slime which will probably take months or maybe a year or so I will definitely look into trying the new orange stuff! I appreciate the input!!!

Been wanting to try the Tint Slime but I was wondering why everyone seems to still mix it with another slip like JnJ etc, is it not good enough on it's own? Why have more than one slip product?
Too be honest I think I just got a bit frustrated when I got the tint slime. Was trying to figure our a slip ratio that worked for me and when my initial tint slime ratio wasn't good enough I just ended up adding a few drops of J&J and bam! worked good so been doing it that way ever since.
I feel like when I was using J&J I would come across times where I put too much in my bottles and my film would slip way to much. With tint slime I wasn't getting enough slip. I'm sure I could eventually find a good slip on its own. But now that I use mostly Tint Slime with a bit of J&J I hardly ever have issues positioning my film anymore.
But my next mission will be to see if I can use TS on it's own. I'll let you know what happens but definitely give it a try. I highly recommend it.

right!!!!

We switched to Global QDP as well but didn't find a need to adjust on the slip. My solution consists of mostly Tint Slime (I put a cap full per bottle) and I put a few drops of J&J

I super appreciate the tag @deadjame5
I probably couldn't find this life saving informative post because I didn't search for Giulia. I didn't end up doing the car though, the customer did decide to go to another shop because I was still a bit busy with other cars. I did tell him to give the other shop a heads up on the potential issues.
Thanks again!

Couldn't find anything regarding this type of vehicle on this forum or in the Makes & Models section. I have never done one but have a customer wanting to get theirs done (2017) Anyone done one?
I did find on an Alpha Romeo forum about some issues some people had with their audio system after getting it tinted. Possibly water damage to the amp.

That's actually really good as far as monthly overhead in my opinion. I pay more that that. As far as rent and overhead I think you are good to go.
I think what you really need to look at is your start-up capital. Do you even have any? You should have several months (at least 6 in my opinion) of rent saved up (more if possible).
Our first year at our shop was slow but I'm not on a busy street. It was really tough, but the second year it really started to pick up. We paid our first years rent upfront.

I have run into this issue with customers before when tinting their front windows when they have existing privacy glass in the back. I now always let them know upfront that if they are looking to match the front and back, the appearance of them film from the outside is usually a close match but the appearance of the film/glass from the inside wont match between the front aftermarket film and the rear factory privacy glass.
Sometimes the will go ahead and go for the closer match and sometimes the will drop down a shade to 30%

Garware has been producing high quality solar film forever. The Global line I have been using for around 10 years without a single warranty claim.
I met Mr. Garware at the Sema show and he said he developed the Global qdp line to show the world the Garware company can make the best film in the world....and he did!
Thanks!

AGREED! But I have a hard time with that. Gotta learn to be ok with that.

I learned my lesson. Done this a few times before and I always hated the film. Was cheap, flimsy and difficult to work with. I won't use other peoples film anymore.
But they last time someone came in, they brought two different DIY rolls. One was a real roll of film, the other was the static cling type that you can take off and repostition. I tried to explain to the customer not to use it, They were a bit aggressive and insisted that I did. I said screw it and did what they wanted lol.

I did a facebook ad once with very little response from it. I realize it takes a little trial and error so we currently have an ad out done by a company that specializes in this. Still waiting to see good results but we do seem to get more page likes , etc.

I saw this at SEMA and was quite interested. But I have seen others that came as a single unit instead of two jacks. Now that you have a had a chance to use this one, would you think you would prefer the other type or for you find this system relatively easy to use?

I used to do mobile tinting. It's a pain in the ass if you don't do it in a garage. So what I did was only do customers cars that had their own garage (with enough room and with electricity). If they didn't I would refer them to tinters that I knew who had their own shops.

We use the silver spray master bottles too. They seem to last a very long time. They only issue I come across is when you get a new one and the writing on the outside begins to flake off. For a while I was getting the white/blue chips on my hand and some would end up in my tint jobs. Eventually it would stop. Ever have this problem?I
just thought of that I have but I usually spray paint mine so I don't get my stuff mixed up with other tinters
Awesome. I'll try that. Was gonna scrub or sand it off but wasn't sure if it was a good idea lol. Thanks!
Is slip tape for hard cards good????

Yes! I think I'll do the same. Keep some cards with and without Teflon tape. I just scratched a window right now with a bad gator blade!!!!!
