tried gasket wizard late 80's, seemed more a PITA then anything. it was better then 2 inch masking tape pieces trying to tape the gasket back. learned how to tuck with my olfa knife. there were no EZ-reach or fancy tools back then. Last year I saw the Shank for the first time and fell in love. On really tight seals I use the shank with an EZ-reach to force the film in. I refer to that as the double F%&k.
People that topload and are good at it wont like the GWs i have noticed but you can still use them to keep the seals dry and no tuck tricks needed
And i prefer to peel the whole liner off and not touch the glue side of the film on doorglass installs

Hey man, just got the GW, haven't used it yet, you seem to be making good use of it, any tips or tricks? Seems like jam and go, what's the best way to maximize clearance for the film? There's no videos about their use, i know it seems straight forward, but apparently you have to wear a cup when using the bungees? lol Can you hang a small weight instead?
I ditched the bungees real fast way back in the early 90s and just finess/bottom load it and use the bottom of my hands/palms near wrists to push them outward so the film slides in and maybe need abit more slip than normal maybe and slide the front part in 1st on some
Takes some practice and most are all 2nd nature to me but i still remove the seals on a few rides
But lots of them are 5min installs with no heatgun mostly but occasional small crease from rushing? LoL

Pretty darn sure a 36in roll will fit the 90s impala rear glass, its been a while since i did one of them but they are not that big
-
-
I just use my 5.gal sprayer to wash the glass for now=no filter hooked up yet
-
Harbor freight or fastenal or autozone has diff oring selections thay should fit
-
When i 1st started tinting it was 5% and i was pulling into a driveway in the outback and went thru the ditch at buddys house party and he was laughing/thank god nobody was there with a black shirt

i use the 5 gallon sprayer all the water pools up at the rubbers instead of falling thru.
The gasket wizard/shields will let the water go thru but seals removed is easyier to slide the film in

Think i have that or close and dont like it

Got a 91-96 Caprice/Impala coming up soon, after some reading I'm wondering how bad I'm gonna hate life that day
Pop the panel/seal=stapled together and them pins break(i have a bag of them) and the part on the panel can break off/careful with that but with seal off tintz pretty easy and the rear deck kinda pops out not bad/ it goes way up on the bottom edge of glass/fur sucks but pretty simple and i wet shrinked many with no issues

I did auto mobile for the 1st couple yrs at car dealers/auto glass shops/sterio shops and a few small horrible small dirty garages that didnt have good lighting etc but some people have nice shops and gather a bunch of jobs for ya maybe
-
You will be better off finding a garage thats well lighted with white walls and power/water/bathroom etc and if mobile and they dont have a decent shop to do auto type jobs i would say sorry and the Tent thing? Wind/Rain/Hot/Cold and setting the thing up and taking it down and tracking crap on your shoes in a nice ride?
-
I did a glass wall(7ft by 12ft)at a clothing store/mall with supplied film Lumisty?/Madico that was clear straight thru and clear frost from angled view and was thick film 8mil i think and it was very expensive and i got decent $ for the install and a yr.or so later i got to do it again because it got broke somehow

dang bro you didnt redo it? you just told the customer yeah thats going to be there for now on lol
but what do you mean $69 tinting under tent? is that what you were charging?
It wasnt a real nice car and he begged me to do it and was outside and didnt see it til i was ready to leave(very small bug)all flattened out lol and said if it moves or bubbles i will redo it
And the tent thing was like i saw at a flea market(long time ago) in florida for $69 Hack n Slap jobs lol
-
$69 tinting under tent? If they dont have a decent shop forget mobile
I remember doing a car outside and it came out ok but got a bug in the rear doorglass and 4yrs later the guy says the bug was still there LoL
-
If you had enough alky you wont see the specs or care about them lol
After clean/prepping a dirty dusty car maybe wash your hands up good before peeling and installing and wipe the tip edge of glass with a clean towel

Small fingers
in Window Tinting - General Discussion

Some of the dodge trucks have a long doorglass that may have a finger or 2 when you lay it out to cut it and some of the rear glass have a bow that makes a finger or 2 but still dont need to shrink them with a good squeege pattern
