  1. I learned bottom loading first as well. I tried top loading a few years ago, and it was horrible until I figured out I could cut the excess liner off... Made top loading 1000x easier, and I rarely crease the film. If I do get a crease it's a soft crease I just wrap a card in paper towel and shove it in on the crease, tint the other window, and when I come back the crease is set.

  2. I've often removed PS films that have left a burning sensation on my hands, but I'm not sure if it was just from the friction or the adhesive itself. Often the fumes from the adhesive will burn my eyes; especially when it is hot. I don't get that from Llumar adhesive, but from the films that smell like liquorice, molasses, or have absorbed the smell of 1000 farts.

im having pain in my hands and wrist from removals. pulling the tint off and scraping the glue. hell friday 1990 acura legend had to scrape the whole back glass and removal early that morning on commercial. .. then saturday 2 full r&r walk ins. it hurt driving my car this morning and trying to hit my vape.( you have to squeeze it)

Damn 1st world problems. Still not as bad as a mancold.

  4. I do stuff on the side, not tinting windows. I always tell folks I prefer to do it through the business, so I can use the high quality product and so they are backed by a good warranty. Other stuff: tinting lights, wraps, stuff we don't offer, I do on the side. I like buying crap cheap through local consignment auctions and selling it out of my garage. Anyone need a snow shovel? I have 10..

  5. I've done maybe a dozen now. They're fairly easy I thought. I use H pattern but tack the film hard at the edge so I don't shrink  where the window does a steep curve at the top. Seals come out easy. They're 3 piece seals but you can leave the forward pieces in as they don't interfere with the installation.

Also one of them had removable head rests?.. Not sure why that one was special.

  6. Ok. Installed another set, had to be the hardest damn tail lights, of course, but this time around it seemed like if i would just breathe on them they would scratch. I used a bit of polish after and they looked fine.

I used a triedge plus at first, one with squeegee. Then I put teflon tape, still scratched, and even a card wrapped with a soft chamois.

Didn't notice this problem before? Pressing too hard maybe?IMG_20171005_215957.jpg.de4993a09feb3eb1af838a0c6229838b.jpg

  7. I let the back window warm up before shrinking. Try to spread the heat out over a larger area. Squeegee really well. Heat the heck out of side windows to set the film. The window will contract faster than the film when you pull it outside and will cause fingers. I've had fingers form where the water froze behind, but you can use your thumb to warm the finger and then set it.

  8. My pologies. I've tinted a few tail lights for people using Oracal 8300, but they always brought their own kits. I've been asked to do a pair at least once a week lately. Customer likes a pair I tinted. Sent her a photo. I think it's the medium or light gray. Would one of you be able to identify?

  9. I've never had an issue, but I angle my heat gun away from the seals. I heat maybe 2-3 inches away from the edge, and when I get close to the edge I aim the heat gun 45-60 degrees toward the center of the glass. The heat from 2-3 inches away conducts through the glass to meet up with the heat I'm applying at the edge.

I did a rear side window on a new Accord six times last week. No idea why, once I got mad it just went down hill. Kept creasing on install

Ya it's wild sometimes.. I swear some are just cursed. Do a window 3 times and it's finally perfect.. Nope! Fruit fly in it.. So go over to the machine and hey! the plotter decides "I'ma eat this one". All I can think is.. You SOB! you cut perfect all day and this one. This is the one you decide to eat.

  11. Concentration expression.  I usually use a tapered card, tri-edge, or contour to work some lubrication into the seals, then carefully slide it in. Push the film against the seals gently and when there's just a bit of pressure you prop the seal open with a card and the film will pop in.

  12. I use bulldozer with teflon on the squeegee. It slips in there without lube, and when you pull it out you have to slide out to the side so you dont pull the film up.  I also use the long white strip with the black squeegee. Hard to get pressure back there so must make sure to get it all and use enough slip in the mounting solution so nothing sets prematurely.
