Yes, you just need something slick on the tint surface to help the squeegee slide. Your normal slip should be fine. Use a blue max or the new red squeegee( I haven't tried it yet).
Ok will do thanks bro

Is it better to have a light soap mix on the last squeegee I noticed when I have a heavy soap mix I get more streaks and I get more contamination I was thinking of a light soap mix and some alcohol what do you guys think ??? The reason I'm asking is cuz I noticed cleaner work at different times that the soap is different mixture....

One time I tinted a Jeep Renegade or as I liked to call it at the time the “ dog hair Jeep from hell”
and i misted the air, the cab of vehicle, and myself lightly and I could see dog hair floating in the air fall straight to the ground.
I do all of these things before I ever even peel my liner I know for fact it’s made my work cleaner with less F ups.
I noticed thats the trick mist and wait a little bit then spray pattern makes sense.....

Get a box of sharpies silver or black 5 bucks hand cut haha just kidding ....

I use a bucket with clean water. Sometimes I add a little soap. I dip my hands in it before I touch the tint. Works great. Different techniques for different people. Try it and see if it works for you.
Little clorox too hehe haha

Hello fellas,
New guy in Tinters block reaching out from Columbus OH. Have done some research, looked around, called around. But looks like this circle is pretty tightly cherished... and might be for good reasons. I've been seriously contemplating doing window tinting, I actually work on cars in my garage (no business, no advertising, just word of mouth) and have often been asked if I can do window tinting, to which I had to say no. Finally the curiosity got to me and thought it might be worth the shot and by the looks of it it might be a good decision. Not looking to dive into it as a business yet, but I don't see why it wouldn't be a long term goal. At this moment my goal is to practice on my own cars and grab some friends' as guinea pigs.
However, I have struggled quite A LOT when it came to sourcing film! I'm sure you've heard this before LOL. I've given up (just for now!) on the big boys 3M and Llumar, then I started looking into the other brands, and the options are like the tree that keeps on giving. So my questions are here, please help:
- Would you consider e.bays window tint sales a reliable source to buy film? As tightly as the supply chain is, I had a hard time figuring out if ebay tints are legit.
- Other brands that I had just recently been researching (here at T.D. and online) are Suntek Ceramic series, Solar CarbonFX and UltraFX series. Haven't yet found out whether having a business license is necessary to buy these films, would someone know? Are these recommended films to start with while being able to offer a good customer experience?
- I've read a couple of posts regarding pricing window tint services and I completely agree that "coming low just to get started" is not a good idea. Like I said I work on cars on the side, nothing heavy at all, but I'm not that far from what mom-n-pop shop's labor charge is (ironically I can't quite mark up parts since I don't have commercial accounts but again I don't that for a living). Does it justify charging somewhat close to my area's tinting market amid my lack of experience? How would you approach this?
I honestly don't know that I want to go through the trouble of setting up a business entity right at this moment since I don't even have the hands-on experience , much less know how my tinting experience will turn out. Nonetheless, I am putting in some serious research time and for some reason I can't seem to want to look back. Your thoughts on the above will be greatly appreciated!!
May the Tint be with you!
Thank you.
Practice practice practice good films are easier to work with....thats the first step is good film and master tint skills before anything it's not easy but if you work hard in practice you will get it solar fx for sure good films

What? Did you read what i wrote?
Yes i was just saying mist pattern sideways before peeling liner off !! Not into it makes sense what you said spraying directly at it...

Doesn't seem like the adhesive is sticky maybe I'm just using too much soap seems like pretty good thick film

Misting the air may grab floating contaminants weighing them straight down into your work instead of them floating away, especially if you're misting right over your work. This is what i tell myself when i don't do it.
Always spray down from just under the top then from the center away and passed the lower 3 sides, saturate with minimal distance in each direction, basically don't let any water run back onto film. If you 2 stage peel it upside down.
That's why you spray your film sideways and you mist sideways not straight into your work..common sense.....yeahhhh!!!!

I have been misting water in the air before I peel and misting the TINT and also spraying the adhesive sideways it seems like the work is coming out cleaner....
-
I think its that sticky global glue haha...

Does dry adhesive come out cleaner i always.wondered ???

Do this if you have to with the door open and a fan on and a mask watch all the hate comments you'll get mask everything off and be careful you can also try to put it on with a brush

I’m trying to remove old tint off a bg and the first layer comes out fine but the second layer is flaking in a million pieces. Is there anyway to remove the tint without damaging the defrosters. I’ve been using a steamer with no luck. Any help would be appreciated

Also when you squeegee make like a cross pattern go side to side then do the middle to the top and then squeegee out in the other four sections if that makes sense
