Hey guys, Im the newest newbie here! I've been looking into plotters for a bit now. They seem to be used for alot! I've been reading a ton of the forums on here trying to learn as much as I can.

Here is my situation! I would like to start my own business I've been looking into all kinds of stuff, an well creating graphics seems like a fun and enjoyable job... (some times im sure its not! heh). I currently AirBrush t-shirts, mailboxes an such as a hobby. Im thinking if I own a plotter in combination with my airbrush I could possibly have a nice little graphic business.

So I come to you folks to get the ins and outs of the business. I dont really plan on doing full car wraps or anything, but can anyone give me a clue on what kind of profit one would expect to make? Can you even make a decent amount of profit on simple viynl stickers, or window lettering/art work? I know for sure supplies and plotters are not cheap!

Also, I dont plan on doing anything on large scale so would a 15'' cutter like the Roland STIKA model SX-15 be a bad choice to go with? or should I step it up a notch?

Thanks for any info you can supply me with.

I just bought a 30" Graphtec.

I love this thing, It can do most anything I need so far.

It was not cheap, nore was the vinyl, software and other supplies to get me started.

But in a week I have made back 10% of my investment, by word of mouth.....

A lot of boats around here. :gasp

My vinyl supplier said in 10 years I would still be glad I bought the Graphtec.

I hope he's right.

Well, im in Oregon for those who want to know! Im almost half tempted to look into a 24'' plotter but I think most the stuff im gonna do will be on a smaller scale, an I'll probably waste alot of materials with a 24'' plotter wont I?
