cali smog nazis had a similar set up. they'd park on on ramps with a sniffer on a tripod. anyone drove by and it sniffed too much it took pictures of their plate and sent em a one way ticket to the refferee. it was later ditched for the roadside dyno.

I'd go knock on the window and ask them what they are doing. I', a jerk like that, and if they still didn't leave I'd put my camcorder on a tripod and aim it at the van to see if it made them leave.

nope its a dynometer.

a set of huge steel drums placed under the drive wheels of a car to simulate a load.

performance shops use em to measure torq and horsepower for all them fun little mods.

the smog n@zi. uses em to recreate the worst possible conditions your motor can run in.

if im not mistaken its a 10% grade with the motor just before the powerband. totally bogged down. spittin the worst numbers out possible.

of course they dont recreate the 55-60 mile/hour winds to help you lean out a lil. that and the referee will let the cars sit before testing. no hot laps around the block to warm her up before the test.

CALI SMOG now has mobile roadside versions to "randomly" test possible gross polluters. (I harldy find just outside the 1/4 mile track to be "random" though)

      70% Expel Plus on windshield ripple fix

      Are you certain it's the film and not the actual windshield? You will not be able to "fix" a ripple in film. If you do remove it inspect the windshield carefully though. Could well be the glass has issues.

      Any way to fix a very annoying/dangerous rippling effect on the front windshield without redoing the entire thing? Charms seem to “jump” every so slightly making the driver a little dizzy during driving.

      help arquitectural in Puerto Rico heat

      Hi, new to the forum but a previous lurker. Was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on tints for a business in Puerto Rico who's windows face north (humidity 80% temp 70-100). Main concern is heat reduction though i would like for it to not be super dark since it is a work area. Have not contacted installers yet since I wanted to have some knowledge about products and specs beforehand to make sure im getting what i need. Thank you! From what i've gathered i should look out for: dual reflective film and low absorptive/high solar reflection products used this topic among others for research: "should be a go-to such as: 3M's Night Vision15 or NV25, Vista Film's Dual Reflective18 or DR 28, LLumar's DR15 or DR25 (which closely matches 3M NV), or Madico's Optivision in and around the same number assignment. The numbers assigned to films represent the visible light transmission of the product." "The higher the reflectivity of a film product, the better when dealing with desert heat."

      It looks like the end of the roll was used which has adhesive marks from being attached to the plastic core. You can't use the very end of the film roll.
