Not much of a horror story, but amusing non the less........

I got done tinting a four wheel drive Durango with big tires and a mild lift. Well, our install bay is a block down from the main store, so we end driving around the block in a big circle, anyway, I back out of the bay, pull out of the drive,right, speed hump, to the stop, right, speed hump (popular here in Fl.), stop, straight, speed hump, right, right again back into main parking lot. When I pull up, there's a bunch of people outside staring at the truck, laughing. I don't know what's up, I figure homeboy said something funny, ya know.

I get out of the truck, and there's my heatgun, about twenty feet behind the truck, with the extension cord running up behind the rear end. So I'm like freaking out up under the truck trying to untangle my cord before the customer shows up, while the peanut gallery gathers around laughing thier asses off.

I was so embarrassed!! And I'm thinking, any potential customers standing around aren't gonna let me touch thier car.

Crazy thing is, I have holsters made so I won't run over the heatgun, and I know I put it in it. Here's what we figured happened, the cord got caught in the tread of the tire as I backed over it, pulling the cord up over the tire on to the axle.

The weird thing is, I didn't see it, I pulled it over two parked cars (employees', thank god, and somehow didn't scratch them), then dragged it around the block, through a neigborhood, people along the whole way, probably laughing thier asses off as well.

I feel better now that I've shared this experience, moral of the story; always know where your heatgun is......oh yeah, it still works, 6 months later!!

      help arquitectural in Puerto Rico heat

      Hi, new to the forum but a previous lurker. Was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on tints for a business in Puerto Rico who's windows face north (humidity 80% temp 70-100). Main concern is heat reduction though i would like for it to not be super dark since it is a work area. Have not contacted installers yet since I wanted to have some knowledge about products and specs beforehand to make sure im getting what i need. Thank you! From what i've gathered i should look out for: dual reflective film and low absorptive/high solar reflection products used this topic among others for research: "should be a go-to such as: 3M's Night Vision15 or NV25, Vista Film's Dual Reflective18 or DR 28, LLumar's DR15 or DR25 (which closely matches 3M NV), or Madico's Optivision in and around the same number assignment. The numbers assigned to films represent the visible light transmission of the product." "The higher the reflectivity of a film product, the better when dealing with desert heat."

      It looks like the end of the roll was used which has adhesive marks from being attached to the plastic core. You can't use the very end of the film roll.

      South facing windows DR film

      Install went great. I went with NV-25, I am very happy. The room has been darkened significantly, from bright and hot to much more pleasant and enjoyable. Watching TV during the day is no longer blinding, when it is cloudy it is definitely a bit gloomy, I am glad I did not go with NV-15. I plan on getting more windows done in the future to help cut down on heat energy. Thanks for everyone's input!
