Does anyone on here have a Roland Versa camm? Im thinking about buying one, I have done tons of research on it but I would like to hear how good they are from someone other than the store trying to sell it to me. 20.000 bones is alot to spend.

I have a 54" Versa-Camm & love it. Just make sure the company you buy it from has a very good customer service policy in place. It takes some training & some phone calls for simple questions & you need them to help you & return your calls.

I have a sign shop also & do a good bit of digital printing, more so since I got this machine. Once you get over the learning curve it's very simple to operate & maintain.

It's alot of money but it opens up alot of opportunities that you didn't have before. I actually make the payments on mine from the business I get from other sign shops in my area. There's only one more shop in town w/ a digital machine(Mimaki) & he's got alot bigger business than mine but I have a good relationship w/ most other sign shops.

I paid all the sign shops a visit when I got the versa-camm & offered to do sub work for them at a wholesale price & I clear about $1,000 a month in profit just from them & it grows every month. I also called all my accounts & took them samples of what I could now do & picked up a large portion of business from them that I wasn't getting.

It's well worth the money because I have picked up in extra business that I wasn't getting about 1 1/2 times the cost of the machine so far & I've only had it since July '05.

      Automotive Tint Comparison

      1) Why avoid Suntek? I thought they resolved that issued with the easy scratching and that they are one of the market leaders in Australia? Also, it seems most of the well established Tint businesses use Suntek 2) I've heard mixed things about Rayno, with some installers raving about it and others disparaging it. Makes it difficult for the consumer to know the truth, given vested interests exist. 3) Is Ultragard a Australian exclusive product? The IP seems to be owned by GTS FILMS PTY LTD. How's the quality as it seems to have limited installers. 4) Is the MEP Films CNP that apparently are Manufactured by LLumar of the same quality as the LLumar tints (such as Llumar Formula One Stratos; Llumar Formula One Pinnacle; Llumar CTX)? 5)

      Cracked glass

      The crack indicates thermal stress, however, the edge of the glass may have an imperfection (bur or clam shell chip). The crack does run 90 degrees out from the edge and curves as it follows any weaknesses in the pane itself. I have attached a pictured of what tempered glass looks like when it breaks and alongside it what a plate (or float) and heat-strengthened glass looks like when it breaks. The outer panel my be tempered should indicate so by a stamp etched on the glass surface in one corner. It should indicate tempered. Plate glass has no indicators, however, heat-strengthened glass will crack in the same manner as plate glass. I'm an unsure whether heat-strengthened glass requires a stamp. Tempered glass is 4 times stronger than plate and heat-strengthened is 2 times stronger than plate. 1 in 24 is indicative of edge imperfection. I could not find the solar absorption rate of DN 50, but if it is similar to competitive films, there should be no issue with that installation setting (including a straight line shadow). This, too, points back to edge imperfection as the cause. And finally, I spy drapes in a close position, correct? If so, it would be helpful to crack open during sun exposure; this to assist in allowing trapped heat between the glass and drapes to dissipate.

      Cracked glass

      Hello. I recently installed Johnson Daylight Natural DN 50 on a couple of windows. Solar energy rejection is 39%. The windows are double pane and the glass is supposed to be tempered 4mm + tempered 6mm. The roof overhang shades the top 1/3 - 1/2 of the windows. However, a few days after installation I noticed that one of the glass has cracked, presumably due to thermal stress. Should I remove the film from the rest of the windows? I installed the film on 24 of these windows (6 tiny houses) so now 1 out of 24 is broken. Or is it more likely that I just got unlucky and the glass had a defect? Is shading from the roof overhang such a big factor? The glass cracked. Is it really tempered? I thought tempered glass would shatter, but not crack. Thanks!

      Residential Film without blue hue?

      Take a look at 3M's Nightvision or LLumar's Dual Reflective series, they both have a warm tone to them.

      Steer clear of Black Armour, Suntek, ASWF. The others are good choices if you are in Australia. Check out the reviews of the installer too. It’s not just the materials that have to be proper. Never go for the cheapest!!!

      Residential Film without blue hue?

      Hey guys I am in the process of having window film installed in my home but have a question about which brand I should go with. Hoping yall can help me out. I have a room that faces a busy street and as a result my blinds pretty much always stay closed. I love having natural daylight but not so much people being able to see what i'm doing in my room/all my expensive equipment. I used to work in the window film industry as a helper/installer/salesman when I was in highschool and we did a lot residential/commercial work. The specific brand of film we used always left a certain blue and cool appearance. Is there any brand of residential film that does not have this effect? I mainly just cannot stand having blue light amplified and am looking for a film that has a neutral shade to it or even a warm/yellow hue. I have single pane windows and I do not necessarily care about heat rejection but if I have to pay more for a ceramic film rather than a dual reflective or a standard film I am willing to if that helps solve the issue. Again, any help is really appreciated with this there are so many new window film brands out there and it really is cool to see how far the industry has come.

      Automotive Tint Comparison

      LLumar, 3M and Solargard have in the industry as far back as the genesis of window film mid-1960's). Solargard is the younger of the three and all others came to play in the last 20 or so years. I've had all three on my vehicles over the years and my current is 3M Crystalline on my Jeep since 2015. It still has stable color, scratch coat is holding strong and impeccable adhesive clarity. Never been garaged. My choice toady would be 3M or LLumar.
