Worried about the wrong things?

There have been a lot of topics about who makes what lately or how it got there. It would be nice to know but we should be worried about more important things. Things like the manufacturers that sell film and patterns direct to the dealers pushing the real specialist out. I am sure most of us have seen a lot of the sub par jobs that come from it. Not only does it take money from your shops but gives the product a bad wrap as well. It amazes me how many shops will support a company that will back door them and sell to a dealer direct or even retail. In my eyes it shows you how much they really appreciate your business and support. Putting up a difficulty rating, videos and install instructions is not helping your customers that order online. It just takes away from your dealers who market and support your business. This is not directed at anyone but you know who you are. :thumb

The other would be marketing. The Manufacturers just don't do enough of it. Not everyone looks at auto specific magazines. Everyone is a potential customer though. Think outside the box a little with those ads. A little goes a long ways. :beer

I really don't care where the film is made or who makes what for who or whatever. if it stretches nicely, looks nice, tacks well when needed, and holds up without yellowing then I'm happy. :thumb I don't care about what dealerships or any competitors are doing either. I just deal with what I've got right infront of me. :beer:beer

most of us dont really give a blank about where this and that comes from and where the plant is and crap like that..if it looks good and it stays on the car ..and it is installer friendly...I could car less where it was made.

as for marketing...yeah dude ,,you are preaching to the choir here...we have been trying to get the window film industry for years to do national advertising..but I think hell will freeze over before someone steps up to the plate on that one. :err

Window film is a pretty well know item and seen everyday. You don't generally see clear bras in traffic so its not a rolling advertisement. Or atleast you shouldn't see them. How many people do you run into that don't know what tint is? Probably very few. Now look at how many people you get that have no idea of what a clear bra is.

I am not talking about competition or dealers but the suppliers. Do you want your supplier to be your competition? :err

I should have been more specific in my post...I was referring to residential and commercial tinting...I deal with ppl on a daily basis that dont know you can tint house or business windows.

as for suppliers being the competition..their is on company that starts with an L and ends in a R that sets up car dealerships and sells DIY film to big name hardware stores..I would say that they are taking business away from their dealers :spit
