i'm sure this has been discussed before but i can't find anything on it

when using a hp or ceramic film i find that wherever you heat a finger out-there seems to be a haziness in the heated area you can see when the film is installed and dried. i'm sure you guys have noticed it(at least i hope i'm not the only one). just wondering if there is anything that can be done to help this.

Im not a pro, only do tint for myself and friends, but I have noticed this. My guess it too much soap in tee spray and heating it causes the water to evaporate and leave the soap residue on the window.

Most of the time ( actually all of the time that I have seen ) the haziness will go away. I noticed this a lot when ceramic films first came around, and have noticed it on metallized as well. At the time , I was using joy. I no longer use joy, and use J&J. I notice far less of it now.

if you are talking about ghosting from to much heat during shrinking its not gonna go away.....if you are talking about the cloudy look when you first install some films, that will go away

      help arquitectural in Puerto Rico heat

      Hi, new to the forum but a previous lurker. Was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on tints for a business in Puerto Rico who's windows face north (humidity 80% temp 70-100). Main concern is heat reduction though i would like for it to not be super dark since it is a work area. Have not contacted installers yet since I wanted to have some knowledge about products and specs beforehand to make sure im getting what i need. Thank you! From what i've gathered i should look out for: dual reflective film and low absorptive/high solar reflection products used this topic among others for research: "should be a go-to such as: 3M's Night Vision15 or NV25, Vista Film's Dual Reflective18 or DR 28, LLumar's DR15 or DR25 (which closely matches 3M NV), or Madico's Optivision in and around the same number assignment. The numbers assigned to films represent the visible light transmission of the product." "The higher the reflectivity of a film product, the better when dealing with desert heat."

      It looks like the end of the roll was used which has adhesive marks from being attached to the plastic core. You can't use the very end of the film roll.

      South facing windows DR film

      Install went great. I went with NV-25, I am very happy. The room has been darkened significantly, from bright and hot to much more pleasant and enjoyable. Watching TV during the day is no longer blinding, when it is cloudy it is definitely a bit gloomy, I am glad I did not go with NV-15. I plan on getting more windows done in the future to help cut down on heat energy. Thanks for everyone's input!
