splice question?

Recommended Posts

When doing a split back glass after shrinking the tint and you start the install process do you squeege it all the way out in the middle where the splice is going to be? I know to install the top then bottom and to cut just above the defrost line. Also when you go to pull the excess out do you have to spray again? I have only had to do this one time and it seemed like I had a lot of bubbling there at the splice and I think it was because it got dry I also think there was a tiny light gap. Thanks for the help

If ya are doing whats known as invis-a-seem, Thats what I call it, Yes, spray it down lightly or you will get air trapped in it.

Once I do my cut and start spraying it when pulling the top piece out? Then spray.

I never have understood 2piecing a BG this way. I've seen it done, but it just never made since to me.

If I ever have to seem a BG I use a defroster line. Overlap both piece's over a defrost line one the outside. With both piece's shrunk. Cut across the defroster line cutting through both piece's at once.

Then hang the top piece, next hang the bottom piece. Using the defroster line to hide your seem.

My hangup with doing the cutting on the inside of the car just always seemed way to risky running a blade along the defrost line of a BG. But to each his own. :thumb
