Laminated Glass Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi I have a customer who has laminated glass. Each panel is about 2.4 m high and about 1m wide.

The spec of the glass is laminated 6mm = 6mm with a 0.38mm UV interlayer. Glass manufacturer Thai Asahi.

What sort of window film would be the best option. What about a non reflective film like suntek cxp, I use a lot of that of large flat glass window because it is not refelctive.

Help and advice welcome.

thanks

steve

Not familiar with the suntek cxp - but a non reflective film is going to be riskier than a reflective film on laminated glass. A non reflective film absorbs more heat into the glass than does a reflective film. Suggest you contact suntek and see what they recommend.

Hi, this is the reply I have had from the senior technical officer at the glass manucaturer, who I found most helpful..

You don't worry about Thermal crack problem because glass

absorption are around 27 - 30%

LAMITAG Clear 12.38 mm (FL6+PVB0.38+FL6) visable ray transmitance 84.6

reflectance inside outside 7.7 7.7

solar energy transmittance 66.6

SOLAR ABSORPTION 27.0

So I was looking at a film with a Vlt of 48% and a solar absorption of 34% slightly reflective/silver your thoughts welcome

Maybe someone here has a chart with what AS1 AS2 and AS3 glass is. Might be a laminated/tempered combination

Start looking at the rollups more often. Youll notice an AS# on the glass.

For instance my workvan rollups have an AS2 stamp on them. What does this mean?

My bad thought this thread was in auto section :blink

This is for a car? If so, then it's HS or tempered lami. The film probably won't hurt it but you will have no thermal break warranty that's for sure.
