2012 Porsche Boxster Spyder - (Full Front) installation

Recommended Posts

Looks good, but I had a minor panic attack all the way over here in Texas seeing that garage door open during your installation... How often do you have to lift an edge to get out a hair, or speck, or possum that might crawl under the film between cleaning the hood & laying the film on?

LOL you mean mosquitos here in FL, most of my jobs are at customers homes and dealerships so I have to be careful while installing the film. I try to prevent contamination by spraying a mist of water (from my cornielius tank) on the floors in the garage to prevent the contamination to go in the air and rely on my tweezers if I need to remove hair etc. in the film instead of using my nails and ruin the adhesive.

Dont let them give you a hard time. Its called SKILL! LOL . Being a mobile installer I have to do it all the time. If you work with the film fast (from the time you remove it from the backing to laying it on the hood), spray the floor, and use plenty of water there are no issues. Going to a pressure tank makes it much easier as it saves time from exposure.

Also gel doesnt work in the tank. Even the guys at Xpel get their tanks clogged up all the time so they use bottles. Plus I really have found the gel to be much more of a pain in the ass to work with than good ol baby shampoo and water.

ive gotten real comfortable with the gel/xpel ultimate combo. when I used to use venture I had a great solution of johnsons and a bit of alcohol. I did pick up, what I definitely recommend, the double pump sprayers. it sprays on the in and out of the trigger which is a nice help with full hoods. ive wanted to ry a pressure sprayer or tank but I was worried about the clogging.

I use both gel (spray bottle) and baby shampoo solution (in my 3 gallon cornelius tank) on my installs. you can buy cornelius tanks on ebay and then build your own, just buy ball locks, hose, new gaskets, Valve stem from a tire store and spray nozzle and your all set.
