I think I remember seeing an article about passing a law for 18 wheelers to have window film installed. just seeing if someone can point in the right direction

Yes it is now legal to install 70% film on the front doors of 18 wheelers.

I may be wrong but would that not be a NET 70 for big rig front doors, which means a clear UV film having VLT around 84%?

The FMSCA that regulates the safety of large vehicles over 26.000 lbs that it is now legal, in all 50 states to apply a clear film on the front windows of vehicles over 26,000 lbs, as long as the light transmission is not restricted to less than 70 percent of normal, factory windows are typically in the 72-80 percent range.

Nope, for an example a film like 3M Crystalline 90 would reduce the light transmission by only approximately 1 percent.

you could probably get by with air 80 or most 70% films without much hassle.
